Chapter 12

CHRISTMAS EVE

Niall POV

Yesterday was fun, when we arrives at Dublin airport, my mum pick us up and invite us for lunch. It was a pleasant meal and we drives away to mum house. Since mum offer us to stay with her, we've been staying with her in the guest room.

Tonight is the christmas eve, my dad usually come here and also Greg, Denise and Theo also here. Mum house was a bit crowded, but it fills with love. Sometimes i miss this atmosphere, i've gone away for so long and not much chance to see this. Mum was happy that Althea decide to spend her christmas with us, she been get a long really well with everyone and it seems that everyone like her. Thats good then, because its important for me that a girl that i love get along with my family.

Mum planning a family dinner in her house, she's been busy since this morning. Cooking everything and Denise been helping her also, but when Althea offer her to help my mum insist that i should take Althea somewhere to see the town, but as you know Althea can be a bit stubborn so help her anyway.

"Niall come here" mum calls me from the kitchen, "here's a box of new cookies don't finished it by yourself! Share it and please hon, take your girlfriend sight seeing! I want her to feel like a guest shes been helping me a lot in here and i cant make her stop" my mum said, whilst my head pop in from the door, i walk toward Althea and hugged her from behind, "c'mon babe, my mum fine. Lets drive around town" i whisper in her ear, "but Niall..." She complaint, "its okay dear, go and have fun. Denise and i can finished up in here" my mum said to Althea. She finally listen and i take her hand walks her to the car.

We drives around town, i show her everything. I know this is not her first time here, but i just love showing her my hometown. I miss this place, "hey we haven't call Louis!" I remind Althea who's sitting next  to me looking around at the scenery, "oh yea! Wait lemme call him" she said, she open her phone and dial Louis number.

"HEYYY LOUUU" i screams through the phone speaker
"HEY THERE NIALLER, ugh The you're in a big trouble. You forgot my birthday"
"No did not. I'm just preoccupied helping Niall's mum"
"Yea yea preoccupied banging Nialler"
"Ey watch it Lou. She was with my mum"
"Fine, so hows in there The?"
"I loved it. Niall family is lovely, hey happy birthday grand pa"
"Yeah Happy birthday Lou"
"HEY! I can still kick your ass! Thanks guys love you"
"Hahaha yea i'll bet you can. Love you too Lou"
"Hey Lou, Niall and I got to go. Byeee see you soon. Have a nice christmas and happy birthday"  Althea ended up her phone call with Louis.

We arrives at this cafe that i used to come with my family to spend time together. It was a nice little cafe not far from the house. The food is great, but we just only order a drink. Since my mum cooks a lot and i would love to finish everything.

Finally its almost dinner time, we decide to headed back home. The house is literally seems festive. My mum goes above and beyond decorating for this year Christmas. Its like when i was a kid again, everything seems festive and there are present around the tree. Red and green color dominant all the entire house. The dining room was filled with food, which is a good thing.

"Okay okay everyone please find your seated" my mum said to everyone, everyone was in jolly spirit. My mum cooked the best food ever, i keep on eating and eating her food, "for god sake Niall, save it for everyone you knob head" Greg tease me, "ya ya ya whatever Greg" i said keeping on taking some food. Althea has finished her dinner whilst I'm still eating hahaa , right now shes playing with Theo and Denise. I'm in the dining room with my mum, her husband and Greg. We have some chat together, my mum was please that Althea did a wonderful job.

"Niall after you finished can we have talk?" Said my dad, who's peeking from the living room, "sure da" i said to him. I finished my meal and put it away and seated next to my dad, "so what do you want to talk bout da?" I asked him, "um lets walk outside" my dad invited me, so i got up and join him outside in the garden. I know its freezing cold but we stare at this fountain that in front of my mum house that covers by snow, "so Niall" my dad suddenly talked, "yeaaaa?" My eyes stared at him, "you're getting old son, and your brother is married and soon you'll be too. I have a special present for you" my dad said whilst getting something from his pocket, he gave it to me. As i looked down it was a box and i opened it inside, it contain a beautiful ring. A diamond ring, princess cut. Clear and it simply beautiful. "This was your great grand nan engagement ring, and she was married to his husband until the day she died. I want you to have it,  she always told me whenever i found someone that is the right one. Make sure i gave her this ring but i'm too old for that kind of business so, i decide to gave it to you instead. I already discuss it with your mum, and she completely agree. She thinks its the right thing to do" i looked at this beautiful ring and i look at him, "i don't what to say da. Thank you so much for trusting me. This is meant a lot to me" i thank him, and my eyes still looking at this ring. My mind keep thinking about Althea and how beautiful this ring fit her. "Just give it to the right women son" he said tapping my back, " do you think she the one dad?" I asked him, " i don't know, you're the one that feel it. I like her, she really friendly and i can see why you fall for her" he explain to me, i peek on the window which i can see Althea still playing with Theo, "i think she is, but this is too soon isn't it?" I was thinking how we just released our album, and we got this break for awhile and next thing i know i'll be getting ready for tour. I want to make sure its the right time, "son there will never be a right time. If you're ready just do it if not then waited. Tell me how she makes you feel" my dad asked, i exhale and seat down at the garden chair, "well you know i always like a girl that is banter and cheeky. She has a beautiful personality and her laugh is the best. When she near me i feel like I'm complete like i'm a whole man. That one time i did something idiot, she almost left me and during that time i was a messed. She like my rays of sunshine and i am truly blessed to call her mine" i explained to him whilst reminiscing the memories Althea and I build, "that sounds lovely son. I just want you to be happy and just decide whenever you're ready. I'm not asking now or tomorrow i want you to be ready, c'mon lets go inside its almost time" said him as he got up and walk back inside to the house.
