Several hours later shinta woke up and stretched she felt a bit more rested than she had in a bit, but as soon as she got up she started feeling sick again. Realizing she really needed a proper shower and a warm place to rest and decided she would try her luck with going through the lobby. Seeing as she should still have at least a few hours before hawks would get back she figured she could get in take a real shower and take a nap in a real bed. Hawks typically always came home later in the evening so that would give her a few hours to sleep in a warm bed. The thought brought a smile to her face as she took off in flight to land in the alley beside the building. On her way down she grabbed a baseball cap someone had drying on their fire escape and tucked her hair into the hat before entering the lobby of Hawks apartment building with another group of residents. The doorman greeted everyone noticing the wings in the group as they got on the elevator. He thought recognized them so he picked up the phone to call Hawks like he had been asked. Every day Hawks would remind the doorman that if he saw Shinta to call him, that he was worried about his friend. The doorman fulfiled his duty when Hawks answered "Yo, Hawks here" could be heard on the other end. "Hello sir, I just wanted to inform you that I believe you have a visitor. I do believe it is the one you wanted me to look out for" the doorman politely said and he could hear the brakes screech on the other end of the phone. "Thanks, I'll be there shortly" Hawks had responded before he hung up. The doorman just chuckled he could pick up on the slight excitement in hawks voice which he hasn't had in recent weeks. Shinta was able to get up to the penthouse with the other residents of the building getting off on their respective floors, she put in her code for Hawks keypad and went inside.
Shinta looked around the apartment first when she got there it was like nothing had changed from he last time she was there. She heated up one of the bento's Bakugo had made her before taking it with her to her room. Even her room looked the same, not a speck of dust anywhere like it was ready for when ever she would stop by. She sat at the desk in the room eating her food before she would hop in the shower. After finishing her meal she grabbed a towel from the closet and went to get a shower, she turned the water on and let the bathroom get real steamy before she got in. She hoped the steam would help with the cold she was getting. After about twenty minutes shinta got out drying off putting her robe on and heard the front door of the apartment open causing her to freeze in her tracks. She just stared at the door to her bedroom not sure what to do. 'He wasn't supposed to be back yet. What if he doesn't want me here after what happened? What if its them?' She kept thinking on a loop. "Shinta?" Hawks called out once he walked through the apartment door. "Baby bird please if your really here come out" he called out as he noticed the light on in her room. Shinta jumped when his voice finally broke the silence and she slowly went to the door before she opened it. As soon as Hawks saw her he pushed the door open fully and hugged her tight. "When they said they couldn't find you I got so worried. Last I heard you were cleared from he hospital the day after the fight, no-one has seen you since" he said refusing to let go of her, he could feel that she was running a bit warm even for her as he held her in his arms. "I went into hiding. I still am I just needed to shower and get some sleep some place safe. They found where I was hiding last night" she said to him. "Who found it?" He asked finally letting her go turning around and stepping outside the open door so she could change. "The villains did. Hawks I'm gonna show you something and you have to promise not to freak out" she said to him while she was getting dressed. After getting dressed she pulled out her mask using her damp towel to wipe the old blood off the mask before walking back over to hawks and pulling him back in the room. "Okay? Nice mask" he said confused as he watched her take a few steps back and put the mask on. Before his eyes she turned into the smaller version of her Kitsune form and walked over to him.
Hawks stood there staring at her for a moment in shock of what he just saw before he walked around her looking over the form before she turned back to her normal self puling the mask up placing it on the side of her head. "How did this happen?" He asked her sighing thinking he already knew the answer. "The doctor that was helping shigaraki. I let him talk me into giving me another quirk. I already know what your going to say. It was stupid, how could I do that? It was a huge risk. I have already heard it from Bakugo, All Might and principal Nezu. I get it was a dumb thing, but that decision is also why they are coming after me. You already know that is where I was staying, when I was sent on missions to earn my keep like everyone else I went by Yami. The name was given to me by shigaraki when they learned I left UA. With what ever the doctor had done to shigaraki, he wasn't complete yet. That being said he was different during that fight, it wasn't just Shiggy anymore. When that darker side took over it revealed that I am Yami to deku. It also threatened both him and I. He wants to make me pay for turning against him. Even though before all of it started, before Shiggy started his procedure his orders were to do what felt right. I did as I was instructed and now he wants to end me" she said to him. It felt nice to finally be able to just tell someone and them not seem as surprised. Hawks stood there processing it all for a minute and Shinta went and sat on her bed "So you let them give you another quirk...I had a feeling you might have been Yami. It added up with the timing of when you 'disappeared' and she starting showing up. So this quirk how exactly does it work?" He asked her sitting next to her. "I can use a totem to turn into a creature of my choosing. The totem item must by linked to the creature I'm becoming which is why I picked the Kitsune mask. If I could turn into any animal why not one of the most majestic creatures of folklore" she said to him trying to lighten the tension she felt. She could feel he was upset her for letting them do that to her.
"I'm just glad your ok. It is your life, you have every right to make your own decisions. If they are really going to come after you for helping your fellow heroes even then you made the right choice. I'm here for you. Anyone who would go after someone they called an ally is not a good person. I know I made some of my own mistakes that day" he said to her with remorse in his tone. "I heard you killed one of the villains. What happened?" She asked him. "It was Twice. I didn't want to kill him, I thought I could save him. He just wouldn't stand down. No matter how much I pleaded with him to see the good. For him to just stand down, but he wouldn't. It was kill him or your brother would have turned me into a chicken nugget" he said to her and Shinta hugged him. "You did what you had to. You wanted to help him. Twice was already so lost, he just wanted people to care for him and about him. The league did and because of that he lost himself trying to make everyone else happy and safe" she said to him. The words stung because she was right, even still the words helped Hawks put his mind as ease. Hearing someone else say you made the right call and did the best you can with a tough situation is sometimes all you need. "Alright, I unfortunately need to get back to work. Get some rest you know your welcome to stay here as much as you want or need. Why do you think i gave you a code to the door baby bird" he said giving her one more hug before getting up. "Thanks Keigo. I was afraid you would be upset and turn on me for the decisions i made" she said as she got herself comfy on the bed. "Your family, i could never hate you. I've watched you grow and become a strong young woman. You are meant to be here, with me and your friends. We would never abandon you just because you lost your way" he said to her before taking his leave seeing as he was supposed to still be out on patrol at the time. "thanks again" she said as the door to her room was pulled shut and she faded off to sleep in a real bed for the first time since before the big fight.
Hours passed before Shinta woke back up she had slept longer than she meant to even. After stretching she looked over at the clock seeing how late it was. She sat up seeing a plate of food on her desk and she chuckled some going over to eat it. "Of course he wants to make sure I eat. I really needed that rest" she told herself as she ate the meal he had left for her. She meant to have left already she didn't plan on staying till after he got home. Shinta was still worried about being around the others for too long incase the villains found her. After eating she grabbed a proper set of clothes and packed an extra outfit in one of thebans she had in the room. Hawks always loved to buy her new things even though half of it she hasn't really used yet. After getting what ever she felt she would need into the bag she went over to the mirror on the wall placing her right hand on a part of the wall beside the mirror "Access granted, Welcome back Flame" played over a small speaker as the mirror popped from the wall revealing a small hidden closet. Inside that closet was Shinta's hero jacket along with extras of supplies she would take on patrol with her, she grabbed what we be useful for a few days placing the jacket in the top of the bag with a small smile like she was reunited with an old friend. 'Now to get back out with out him spotting me' she thought to herself as she opened her bedroom door. Shinta happened to be in luck it seemed Hawks had stopped home for dinner and had headed back out. Using that to her advantage Shinta unlocked his balcony door before going out on it closing the door behind her stretching out her wings some. After scanning the area below she took off to find a place to lay low since her previous place was comprised. Flying around for a few hours Shinta found an old run down warehouse by the docks that wasn't in use anymore. It was pretty secluded and she didn't feel anything was off with the area so she decided to find a way in. Once she got in she found a room that looked to what used to be an office, no windows to the outside and only one door in. Feeling that would the safest place she set her things down in the corner of the room moving debris in the room so she would have a place to lay down. Soon enough she had cleaned up enough to give herself enough room to lay down, before getting herself comfortable she used the chair that was in the room to barricade the door from the inside just to be safe.
