The next morning in the Singer's house, I sit at the dining table wearing a black dress, my eyes distant and hollow staring into the emptiness ahead. Bobby rugs sitting beside me, his weather hand gently clasping mine

"Lydia, honey" he holds my hand firmly, his thumb brushing over my knuckles in a soothing motion "Lydia."

I stare blankly ahead tears welling up again as I whisper "Why? Allison, Aiden, and Elena's parents..." my grief spilling over as I fight to hold back the sob "I loved Aiden... I thought we could start over. His brother needed him." my voice trembles as I let out a choke cry "Death, why did you take all the people I love?"

My shoulders shakes with silent sobs leaning forward as my face in my hands trembling "Mom, Linda... oh God, Dad. please, stop the pain in my heart." I yell breaking down collapsing into Bobby's arms.

Bobby holds me close stroking my hair pulling me to him "It's okay, daughter" he murmurs softly, holding me tighter "Time will heal, and I promise, you're not alone in this. We'll get through it together."

In high school, Kira confides in me that she doesn't know what to say to any of them or how much time or space she's supposed to give them.

Isaac comes to say goodbye he will move to New Orleans and Chris Argent will leave too.

The late afternoon sun across the high school parking lot. I step into my car, my fingers trembling slightly as I reach for the door handle. Just as I settle inside, I see Ethan approaching.

"Lydia," he calls softly.

I open the door wider and get out "Hey," I reply quietly.

Ethan hesitates for a moment before speaking "I came to say goodbye to you."

My brow furrows in disbelief "You kidding, right?"

He shakes his head slowly, a small, sad smile touching his lips "No. I have to. I have nothing here now."

I swallow hard, feeling of that familiar ache settles deep within "I'm not a good one for goodbyes" I whisper.

Ethan steps closer, reaching out to gently take my hand "I'm going to miss you," he says softly, pulling me into a hug.

I squeeze my eyes shut, hugging him back tightly "Just ask about me" I whisper into his shoulder.

He pulls back slightly "Don't worry, I will" he promises, a hint of determination in his voice.

I nod, trying to hold back the tears that threaten to spill. As Ethan turns to leave, Caroline approaches, her face filled with concern.

Without hesitation, Caroline opens her arms, and I step into them crying as she holds me close.

A week had passed since the funeral, and the house felt a little different, still heavy, but tinged with a quiet resolve. I begin to find small moments of clarity amid the grief, leaning on Bobby and slowly starting to piece herself back together.

It's late afternoon, I sit at the kitchen table, my journal before me scribbling thoughts and plans. Bobby gets in leaning against the doorframe with a cup of coffee in hand. He watched me for a moment with concern in his eyes "You've been at it all week"

I nod "That's good, Bobby; I can write what I feel"

He smiles "You're taking steps."

I close the journal "I know. I just... I feel like Aiden and Allison; they'd want me to keep fighting. That's what they would've done."
