They finally had arrived.

After parking the car, they all stepped out. Only to be greeted by a gust of wind. Winter wasn't over yet, looks like summer wasn't ready to take over. Infront of them stood a tall, wide, white building, with trees accompanying it from every side.

They stepped into the building, people wearing the same blue uniform were rushing around. Dylan walked up to the reception and mentioned a name. Then a women in the blue uniform came and took them to a room.

Emily hated hospitals they smelled funny.

There laying on the bed, pale faced and hooked to so many machines, was a sleeping Daniel, Emily's husband. His wrinkled face and grey hair matched Emilys. She was trying to stay strong, but it was so difficult. She wanted to see his hazel brown eyes, but his eyelids were shut tight. They have been like that for two weeks now.

Two weeks ago...

It was a cold and frosty evening. A blanket of snow covered most of the ground. As much as you hated the cold, you couldn't deny the mesmerising sight the snow displayed. Dylan and Jane were finally able to celebrate their third anniversary together, which kept being rescheduled due to their work. Now they were alone with only eachothers company, and the rest of the people in the restaurant, a very well known one too. They were enjoying delicious food. Classical music was playing in the background with Dylan and Janes laughter joining in every minute. They were talking about the first day they met. They were really enjoying themselves.

It was 10:00pm and it was time for them to leave. Emily was in their house babysitting Matthew. Daniel was going to come with his car to pick her up and drive her home.

Dylan and Jane finally got home. "How was your romantic dinner?" Emily asked excitedly. "It was absolutely brilliant, Dylan took me to this nice restaurant. We had so much fun," Jane replied, still smiling. Dylan was playing with Matthew until a thought hit him. "Shouldn't father have been here by now?" He asked aloud. They all looked at the clock with worried expressions written all over their face. He was suppose to be here 30 minutes ago, Emily thought.

Daniel was running late because he couldn't help but go pass the flower shop and buy a vase that Emily liked the other day. He liked to shower her with gifts every now and then, as long as he gets to see that lovable smile of hers.

He was on his way to her but there was so much traffic. So he decided to take a short cut. The road he was on was empty, maybe that's because it was really icy.

CRASH!!!!!

He lost control of the steering wheel. The car slid and crashed right into a tree. He had hurt himself pretty badly. He had broken his arm and there was a couple of cuts and bruises. He also damaged his brain, so they had to put him on the life support machine. The doctors had said that if he had been left there for a couple of more minutes he would've been dead by now.

However things weren't looking so great.

It's been two weeks and he hasn't responded. Emily never lost faith, she believed that he would pull through. She had to believe. Daniel was the love of her life. He wouldn't leave her like this, she'd always say to herself.

The doctors on the other hand don't see a happy outcome. Dylan didn't know what to think, all he knew was that no matter what happens, he would be there for his mother, by her side. So he too held on to that little bit of rope of hope his mother had always held onto.

Emily took Daniels hand and gave it a squeeze, hoping her sense of touch would wake him, but that didn't work. A tear she held in managed to escape, thankfully no one was in the room to see it. They were outside, they thought it was best to let Emily and Daniel have their moment. It was killing her, seeing him like that. She wanted to hear his laugh at least one last time.

If he dies than a part of her would die along with him, she knew that. She couldn't lose him, not now, not ever. She stared at him for a while, but got interrupted. It was only Dylan with Jane who was holding a sleeping Matthew. Emily smiled at them, happy that she had their support.

They were there for hours.

Each of them would go up to Daniel one by one, telling him stories, all hoping they would wake him up. Unfortunately, nothing was working. So they called it a day and went home.
