Severus and James were delighted. Lily was going to take the Doppelgastus Potion. She was going to be happy, they were going to be happy and like Remus and Tonks, they would all be together forever.
"Lily," gasped James in ecstasy, "Are you sure? I mean- your soul will-?"
"I don't care." said Lily insistently, "It'll only split my soul in two for good purposes, and if I had to choose between one of you, it would not only break one of your hearts as well as mine, it would tear all of our souls to pieces, let alone two."
James nodded in understanding and agreement. Severus was just full of joy, excitement and contentment. He hadn't felt this way ever. He never felt the happiness of having Lily as his true love, he never felt loved and he never thought he would achieve his long lost dream, but now he was.
"Should we go and tell Albus?" asked Lily.
"No time like the present?" asked James to Severus.
Severus nodded eagerly. "I'm not waiting any longer. I'm surprised you had to ask."
So Severus, Lily and James strolled up to Albus' office. They didn't even think about Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Peter and Dobby waiting impatiently for them all downstairs in the Great Hall. All they could think about was the days to come where James and Lily would continue to be content and happy together living together at Hogwarts and at the same time, Severus and Lily would finally be together, happy and so in love lying peacefully together under the shade of Hogwarts grounds...
They reached the office and entered the room. Lily knew what to do. She put her head in the fireplace and said clearly "Albus Dumbledore's Heaven."
Lily's head spun and she landed dizzily in the fireplace in a gorgeously furnished room. It looked similar to her and James' own home in Godric's Hollow. Standing in the room were a family, two men and two women. The eldest were the parents of Albus, the younger woman was a happy and healthy Ariana, and the other man was Albus. He changed to his elderly kind self when he saw Lily's head in the fire.
"So you've already come to your decision, dear Lily?" he asked.
"Yes," replied Lily happily, "I've decided to take the Doppelgastus Potion. James and Severus agree with the idea. Of course, there are going to be some complications, but we're hoping you can help with them."
"Of course I will." smiled Albus kindly, "Meet me in the dungeons of Hogwarts tomorrow morning at eight."
"Ok, thank you." said Lily.
And, simple as that, Lily spun back into the office where Severus and James were waiting.
"That was quick." said James, as he and Severus helped her up.
"What did he say?" asked Severus.
"We are to meet him in the dungeons tomorrow at eight." replied Lily, sorting her hair out.
The two men nodded and they decided to meet the others in the Great Hall and explain everything. They walked back down. But when they arrived at the Great Hall, no one was there. James found a piece of parchment on the Gryffindor table. It was a note saying:
Bored waiting for you. Dobby's sleeping in the kitchen and you know where we are. Sirius.
James laughed and showed the note to Lily and Severus. Lily laughed and Severus restrained himself from saying "Typical Sirius Black!"
"May as well see if they're still awake and if not, we'll explain things in the morning." said James.
"Good idea, James." yawned Lily, "All that's been going on today...I'm exhausted."
