Chapter Nine

Previously on Oh, Hi There...

"Oh."

"Hi," I say.

"Hi."

We stand in awkward silence next to each other when Jake turns around all of a sudden. He leans in, eyes closed.

. . . . . . . . . .

What? Is Jake Mitchell trying to kiss me?

I put my hand on his mouth and he opens his eyes.

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. Shiz," he angrily says. He turns away as his face reddens. ("SHIZ" I DONT UNDERSTAND AHAHAH -me)

"Jake, Jake. It's okay. It's not you," I assure him, turning him back around so he's facing me.

He looks down at his feet.

"Jake." I push his chin up. His eyes are glassy.

"I stopped you because I don't know why you would. I'm like the ugliest girl ever. I don't understand," I confess. (STOP JUST GET SOME ALREADY - FUTURE LOSER ANNETTE)

"Anna. I never met any girl like you. You're sassy, funny, beautiful, perfect," he tells me and I know he means it. "Remember that."

I smile and hug him. (HUG WHAT IS THIS)

Ellie comes out and we let go.

She points at us and gives us a confused face.

We shake our heads, laughing.

Soon Nate appears out of the bathroom.

"Okay! Let's get lunch!" he says, putting his arms around us.

Ellie and Nate march together. arms linked.

Me and Jake share a look and laugh.

"Anna?"

I nod.

"Somehow and someday I will win you over."

"How can you when you already have?"
