I waited in the car for my mom to tell him that we are here. She knocked on the door and an unshaven man with caramel brown hair, wearing a pair of ripped jeans and a stained white shirt, walked out. Then, mom gestured me to come over. I slowly opened the car door and stepped out with my suitcase.
When I got to the porch he said, "Hey Kay. Haven't seen you in a while." He was trying to joke and lighten the mood but only made it worse for him. Mom glared and I just walked right past him and into the house. There were only 3 rooms inside: the bathroom, one full of boxes, and the last with a bed and a vanity. I walked into the last one and set my suitcase on the bed and started unpacking. I put all my clothes in the closet and then sat in front of the mirror and looked myself over.
There came a knock at my door and my mom's head popped in. "Just came to tell you goodbye," she said, walking into the room and giving me a hug and a kiss on the head. Then she left.
I went and sprawled onto the bed, and before I knew it, I was asleep.
