Nathaniel’s POV

Ivy was lying.

I could see it in the way her hands fidgeted, in the way she bit her lip, in the way she refused to look at me for too long.

She said she needed time.

Fine.

I’d give it to her.

But that didn’t change the fact that she’d been avoiding me.

Or that she hadn’t even tried to bring up what happened between us last week.

That kiss wasn’t a mistake.

I wasn’t going to let her pretend it was.

But before I could say anything else, something shifted in her expression. Her shoulders tensed, her lips parted slightly—

She wasn’t looking at me anymore.

She was looking past me.

I already knew who it was before I even turned around.

Adrian.

Standing at the end of the hallway, watching us with that cold, unreadable stare of his.

I let out a quiet chuckle, shaking my head. “He’s still watching you.”

Ivy stiffened beside me. “I don’t care.”

I arched a brow. “That so?”

She said nothing.

But I could tell.

She cared.

And so did he.

I turned my head slightly, just enough to catch a glimpse of Adrian’s expression.

His jaw was clenched. His shoulders were rigid.

He looked pissed.

I almost laughed.

Adrian Rhys Blackwood—calm, composed, ice-cold Adrian—jealous?

He wouldn’t admit it.

Hell, he probably didn’t even realize it himself.

But I knew him.

And I knew that look.

I didn’t need to say anything. I just met his gaze and let a slow smirk curl on my lips.

Adrian didn’t react.

Didn’t even blink.

But something flickered in his eyes for a fraction of a second.

Then, without a word, he turned and walked away.

Ivy let out a breath beside me, her fingers gripping the strap of her bag tighter.

She noticed too.

Good.

I turned back to her, watching as she stared after Adrian, her expression unreadable.

“You gonna keep pretending there’s nothing there?” I asked, my voice low.

Ivy’s head snapped toward me, eyes narrowing. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

I leaned in slightly, lowering my voice even more. “I think you know.”

Her lips parted, but no words came out.

She wasn’t ready to hear it.

Not yet.

That was fine.

I had time.

And Adrian?

Adrian had no idea what he was in for.
