Ivy’s POVI barely have time to drop my bag on my bed before Kayla storms into our dorm, slamming the door shut behind her.
My head snaps up. “Uh—”
“You need to stay away from Lynne.”
The words hit me like a slap. “What?”
Kayla’s chest rises and falls as she stares at me, eyes wild. “And Kennedy. Both of them.”
I blink. “Kayla, what are you talking about?”
She runs a hand through her hair, pacing in front of me. “I heard them talking. And not just, like, gossiping—I mean, plotting.”
A chill runs down my spine.
I straighten. “Plotting what?”
Kayla stops pacing and looks at me dead-on. “You.”
The room feels smaller suddenly.
I force out a breath, shaking my head. “That doesn’t make sense. Lynne’s my friend.”
Kayla gives me a look like I’ve lost my mind. “She’s not, Ivy.”
I open my mouth, but she cuts me off.
“She and Kennedy were saying all this stuff about you ‘ruining everything’—how you messed up their friendships, how they should’ve handled it sooner.”
My stomach knots.
Kayla’s voice drops. “And then Kennedy told Lynne to ‘fix it.’”
I freeze.
Fix it.
Fix me.
A nauseating feeling pools in my gut. “Lynne wouldn’t—”
“She would,” Kayla snaps. “And I don’t know what Kennedy has over her, but she basically told her she owed her.”
I stare at her.
I want to argue. To tell her she misunderstood. That Lynne—who I’ve trusted, who’s been by my side through everything—wouldn’t betray me like that.
But the problem is…
I already felt it.
Something off.
Something I ignored.
Kayla’s voice softens. “Ivy, I know you don’t want to believe it, but please—just be careful.”
I swallow hard, my mind spinning.
Lynne.
Kennedy.
Me.
I don’t know what they’re planning, but I know one thing for sure—
Kayla wouldn’t lie to me.
