Adrian’s POVI was still catching my breath, my forehead resting against Ivy’s. Her fingers were tangled in my hair, her lips slightly swollen from how recklessly we’d been kissing just seconds ago.
And then—
“Oh. My. God.”
Ivy practically jumped away from me, eyes wide like she’d been caught committing a crime.
I turned just in time to see Kayla standing frozen in the doorway, her mouth open in shock. Beside her, Lily clutched her chest like she was on the verge of fainting.
For a second, the room was dead silent.
Then Kayla’s face twisted into something between disbelief and betrayal.
“You mean to tell me,” she said, pointing between us, “that this has been going on this entire time and you never told us?!”
Ivy groaned, pressing a hand to her forehead. “This hasn’t been going on.”
Lily, who had been gaping, suddenly gasped like she’d solved a mystery. “Oh my God. Is this why you were acting weird this past week, Ivy?!”
Ivy exhaled sharply. “I wasn’t acting weird.”
Lily scoffed. “Yes, you were. And I bet this is why.”
Kayla still looked like she was struggling to process everything. “Wait—so this hasn’t been happening for months?”
“No!” Ivy groaned. “This just happened—as in, literally just now.”
Lily squinted. “So… you weren’t secretly sneaking around with Adrian this whole time?”
Ivy made a frustrated sound. “No!”
Kayla folded her arms. “You just kissed him?”
Ivy hesitated before glancing at me briefly. “Yeah,” she admitted. “It just… happened.”
Kayla narrowed her eyes, suspicious. “But you want it to keep happening?”
Ivy shot me another look, as if trying to gauge my reaction. I just raised an eyebrow at her, waiting to see what she’d say.
After a beat, she exhaled and said, “I don’t know yet.”
Lily gasped again. “Wait—so this was just a one-time thing?”
I clenched my jaw. Was it?
Because if it was, I wasn’t sure I was okay with that.
Kayla studied me for a moment before tilting her head. “And you? What do you think?”
I shrugged, forcing my expression to stay neutral. “I think this conversation is over.”
Lily grinned. “Oh, it’s far from over, Blackwood.”
Ivy groaned. “Can we please just… not do this right now?”
Kayla exhaled heavily, rubbing her temples. “Fine. For now. But I swear, Ivy, if you don’t give us details later, I will lose my mind.”
Lily smirked at me. “And you better not screw this up, Blackwood.”
I rolled my eyes. “Noted.”
Ivy let out a sigh and turned to me. “Let’s just get out of here.”
I nodded, grabbing my jacket.
As we walked past Kayla and Lily, I heard Lily whisper excitedly, “This is better than a drama series.”
Kayla just sighed. “I need so much more information.”
Ivy groaned again. I just smirked.
We were in for it now.
