Chapter Eight: Emmeranne

It's lunchtime. I walked into the Great Hall. I might be frowning and glaring at everyone on the outside, but for the first time in my life, I was bursting with joy on the inside.

I walked to the Slytherin table and sat down next to Draco Malfoy. I smiled at him.

"Hi, Draco", I said as I made myself comfortable.

"Hello Emmeranne", he replied as he smiled back.

We started into each other's eyes for a few seconds. I looked into those magnificent gray eyes. I think they're so brilliant and amazing. His eyes are one of the things that I love most about Draco.

Then Draco cleared his throat, and continued a story he was telling his hideous sidekicks Crabbe and Goyle. I pretended to listen while I ate. Because I was actually was thinking about last week.

Everyone was lead to the Slytherin common room after the feast. Some people stayed there before going to their dormitories.

I sat alone on a couch. I stared down at the floor until I felt someone sit next to me. I looked up. It was Draco.

"What's a pretty girl like you doing alone", he asked me, wearing the smirk he gave me on the train while he crossed his legs.

"I don't socialize woth other people. I am horrible at making friends ", I reply.

"Well, we'll probably be more than friends, so we'll get along. At least that's what I hope we will be" Draco said. "Only if you want it to happen".

I smiled a little as I looked into his eyes. They looked mischievously hopeful.

"You're getting right to the point, now aren't you", I laugh.

"Well", Draco said. "Obviously I like you, and you like me. So there is no reason to waste my time flirting with you if I don't need to".

"I don't like you", I say.

Draco's smile disappeared, and was replaced wth a heartbroken frown.

"You don't" he asked sadly.

"No", I reply. "I'm starting to love you".

"Oh", Draco said, laughing a little. Then he said, "but we just met".

"So" I replied. "Haven't you heard of 'love at first sight'?"

"True", he shrugged.

He leaned towards me. We were so close it made my heart pound.

"Does that mean you'll be my girlfriend ", Draco asked hopefully.

I looked at him. I stared at his gray eyes. Then at his white blonde hair. Then I studied every part of his face. He looked so adorable. Yet I had the nerve to say:

"I'll think about it" I said. "We just met, and even though I said that doesn't matter, it does to my father. I don't want him getting angry or something."

"Alright", Draco said, a little dismayed.

I felt like the worst person in the world. How could I say no, I thought.

Then I heard my father.

"Everyone go to your dormitories", he ordered.

Draco took my hand.

"Good night", he said. "I hope you'll say yes soon".

That made me feel worse.

But I smiled at him. "Good night".

Suddenly Draco dod something unexpected. I looked around the room to see n one was looking,then he put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me in for a quick kiss, a little peck on my lips. Then he got up, and walked away.

I touched my mouth. The warmth of the kiss spread all over my body. I stared at the fire in the fireplace for what seemed to be years but was really only a few minutes.

"Aren't you going to sleep, young lady", my father said.

I shook a little from the fright of his sudden appearance. I got up and saw that he was standing behind the couch.

"Sorry", I said. "I was distracted ".

I walked up to my father and hugged him. "Good night ", Is said as I kissed him on the cheek.

"Good night", he replied.

After that, I slowly crept into my dormitory, trying not to make noise, because the other girls were asleep.

I got into my bed and pulled the covers over me. I still felt a little giddy from the kiss Draco gave me. I can't believe my life changed so quickly. I closed my eyes and slept well for the first time in years.

I noticed that Draco had finished his story.

"Have you come to a conclusion yet", he asked me befor drinking from his goblet.

"Yes", Is said.

Draco waited for a response.

"I will be your girlfriend ", I said.

He smiled and kissed me like that night, only a bit longer. He put his arm around me when he finished.

"But...", I said.

"But what", he pouted.

"We have to dtae secretly. I don't want my stepsister freaking out or my father to go insane. We could start dating publicly after a month or so, but not now".

"Fine", Draco breathed.

He turned to his friends and started another one of his arrogant stories. All I could do was stare at him. I smiled. I finally have a purpose to live. To be with him.
