Tomoyo's View
I played with Kaoru's shirt and smiled at how good he smelled. Kaoru smelled kind of like cinnamon. I buried my face in his chest. I love cinnamon. Well, sweets to be exact.
I could hear him sigh, "Tomoyo..." He said, glancing down at me.
"Yes, Kaoru-kun?" I asked softly.
He glanced out the window, his eyes filled with worry, "I want you to cover you ears and hum, alright? For me?" He told me, gently with a reassuring tone.
I nodded and did as I was told. I raised her hands to my ears and covered them while humming softly to myself. He smiled and ruffled my hair. I couldn't help but grimace in annoyance. He was treating me just like child who needed to be watched over 24/7. It was really starting to aggravate me...
"Thanks Tomoyo." He muttered, reaching over and lowering the window slightly.
I rose an eyebrow. I could hear soft shouts, but I couldn't really hear what they were saying. I stopped humming for a second and listened closely.
"Monster!"
"Come out you murderer!"
"Burn her house down!"
"These rich people won't get away with murder!"
My heart clenched at their words. I wasn't a murderer, I wasn't! I killed Iada b-because I had to! H-He killed Hideki a-and Kora, then he tried to do things to me! Of course I'm going to do something, even if it meant I had to kill him.
You know you enjoyed it.
I shook my head. No!
You enjoyed seeing his flesh and organs leak profusely with blood. Seeing the fear run through his veins as he shouted in mercy.
I smiled to myself softly. I guess I did. I did enjoy seeing him scream in pain and plead for his life. It was a beautiful sight.
"Wakame-san, please close my window. Thank you." Kaoru suddenly ordered.
I flinched softly and began to hun again, nodding my head to cover my previous actions. I didn't want to make Kaoru suspicious that I heard all of those crude words aimed towards me. He grabbed my hands and pulled them away from my ears. Immediately, my eyes snapped open and stared up at him in fake bewilderment.
"I thought..." I started off.
He kissed me forehead and hugged me tightly, "You don't have to do that anymore. We're away from your house." He whispered into my hair, his words muffled slightly.
"You're safe with me."
My eyes widened. I clenched his shirt and grit my teeth together in frustration.
"But you're not safe with me." I stated bluntly.
Kaoru froze and his arms loosened around my waist. He pulled back and stared at me in shock.
"What...what did you say?" He asked lowly.
I frowned, "You're not safe with me, Kaoru." I stated once more, but a bit louder.
He glared at me, "Don't say that. Of course I'm safe with you. You're safe with me already." He mused.
I pushed myself off of him and sat on the sit beside him. I stared out the window and did my best to not look over at him. "You don't understand, you're not safe with me. I know it." I said.
He scoffed, "And how are you so sure about that?" He retorted.
I spun around and glared at him hatefully, "Right back at you! How are you so sure that you're not in any danger when you're with me, huh?!" I shouted. "Answer that, Kaoru!"
His mouth opened and closed as he fumbled over his words. Instead of talking back to me, he kept his mouth shut and frowned sadly. He knew I was right, he just didn't want to admit it.
I sighed and placed my hand on top of Kaoru's. He looked over at me in confusion.
"You know I'm right...don't you? Ever since you defended me from your brother, things have slowly been getting worse for both you and I. You're even getting hate thrown at you." I said.
He nodded, "I know that, but I don't care. If I'm going to be by your side for the rest of my life, I'm going to have to live with this, Tomo. I can't just leave you." He shouted.
My eyes watered, "You don't understand. I knew it..." I whispered.
"I do, dammit! I do understand!" He yelled angrily.
"No you don't, Kaoru! So stop trying to act like you do! You can't see things like I do, I know what's going to happen if we keep seeing each other! We can't keep doing this!" I yelled back desperately.
"Now you want us to go back to being just friends?! You really think I'm going to let you go again?! I'm not going to make that same mistake, Tomoyo! I learned my lesson from the last time. Just please, don't leave me!" He pleaded.
I let out a small sob, "I'm sorry, but I can't do this. We can't do this. You're going to end up living a horrible life with me...." I whimpered out.
He frowned, "My life was never horrible. Being with you makes my life ten times better. I love you! We can do this, even if it means we have to run away together!" He shouted, his eye twitching slightly.
I shook my head, "I'm sorry, but I won't be doing any running any more. I'm done with that. It's time to face my life." I stated with a smile.
Kaoru stared at me with his mouth wide open. I turned towards Wakame.
"Stop the car."
The car stopped. I reached over to my door and pulled the handle, opening the door wide. I hopped out and slammed the door shut before Kaoru could grab a hold of me. I wasn't going to letting these people I call my friends neglect me anymore.
"Wakame-san, head to 'Lakeside'." I ordered, using a small codename.
They'll never have the chance to apologize once I'm done.
"On it."
I could hear the window roll up and Kaoru banging his fists on the glass in anger. I could see why he was angry. I was leaving him after all... It's something you wouldn't ever want to face in life; losing someone you care for dearly.
I smiled to myself and looked up to the sky, "Gomenasai, Kaoru-kun..."
"TOMOYO! DON'T TOMOYO! STOP!"
I glanced at him from over my shoulder for a quick second. Tears were streaming down his face rapidly and he shouted at me to stop. He looked devastated; betrayed.
I winced and turned back around.
I know you'll never forgive me, but please understand I have to do this.
Tears of my own streamed down my face as I rose my hand and stuck up three fingers, waving them side to side as a signal to leave for Wakame-san. "Go..." I whispered, turning around, "Please."
"TOMOYO!" Kaoru screamed as the car drive away, doors locked and with no sign of turning back.
I bit my lip. I had to do this, I had no other choice. If Kaoru was spotted with me by his side, others who knew of my crime would surely hunt him down as well, considering him to be a traitor for being with me. I can't let that happen, even if it means I'd have to leave his side possibly...
Forever.
I'm so sorry, Kaoru, but this is for the best.
I can't take this pain any longer.
.
.
.I love you, never forget that....
It's all for the best.
