Chapter 7: Concerts & Boxed Sets

Like everything else at this school, the class choices were absolutely top-notch.

They weren't too strict about your choices either.

Though there were many options in many categories, as long as you chose a science, social study, English/literature, math, foreign language class that fit your grade level along with three electives, they didn't really care about specifics.

Virgo and I, being the nerds we were, were already cleared to take any and all advanced, AP, or donor's classes we wanted.

With that in mind, it wasn't pretty hard for me to go with AP Calculus, Advanced Latin, Creative Writing, World Mythology, Honor's Biology, Cosmetology, Home Ec, and Computer Sciences.

Then our scedules were printed out, and we found out one of the best things about this school.

We used iPads instead of pens, papers, and textbooks.

It was definitely a weight off my back. I wasn't that tall, and, physically, I wasn't that strong, so bookbags always made my lower back sore. That's why I've been carrying around messenger bags since the sixth grade. So much easier on my body than almost breaking my back everyday.

I'd still have to carry the messenger bag around - there'd still be stuff I had to take, plus I love my messenger bags TO DEATH - but at least, they'd be a lot light since they wouldn't be weighed down by eight thick hardback textbooks.

Once the tablets were handed out and set up, we were pretty much free to go.

"Wow, this campus is huge!" Sagittarius commented, looking at the campus map on her tablet. I nodded, doing the same thing. "And our form is right around the corner from the Campus Square. We're literally at the center of everything."

"Good, 'cause I need my morning Starbuck's." Libra said, already downloading music to her's.

"Same." we all echoed, each doing our own thing on our iPads until we reached the dorm again. "Thank God we have a whole weekend until classes start. I definitely have to get used to this lifestyle," Taurus' words were slightly muffled as he tried to speak through the pack of donuts he's shoved into his mouth.

Gemini suddenly perked up.

"That reminds me. I heard about this hot start-of-school party that's supposed to be happening tomorrow in Dorm 102. You guys up for it?"

Libra, Sagittarius, Leo, Capricorn, Aries, and Aquarius actually looked pretty psyched for it.

But Scorpio, Pisces, Virgo, Taurus, and I looked a little less than thrilled. Actually, that's an understatement. We looked absolutely sick to our stomachs.

"A party?" Scorpio echoed, his nose wrinkled in disgust.

"I have to study." Virgo and I replied in unison.

"I just really don't want to be there." Taurus said, stuffing the donut wrapper into the garbage bin by the door to the back-porch.

Pisces didn't say anything, but considering the fact that he looked more uncomfortable than any of us, I knew he wasn't really on-board either.

Gemini whined as Aries rolled his eyes. "You guys seriously have to study before school has even fucking started?" he asked, looking at Virgo and I incredulously.

Virgo shrugged. "Better safe than sorry."

Gemini stomped her foot in an almost child-like manner. "Come on guys, it'll be fun."

"Standing in a crowd of disgusting bodies with cheap alcohol, the smell of sweat and sex, and festering germs is fun?" I said, my face scrunching up and my body giving off a horrified shudder as I pictured it.

That definitely didn't sound like a good time.

"I promise, it'll be cool. You can dance, get wasted, and with how pretty you are, you could probably get laid." The second the words fell from Saggitarius' smirking lips, my eyes widened and I began abruptly choking on my own spot.

"THAT SOUNDS AWFUL!" I squealed, still coughing like I'd come down with pnumonia as I turned to follow Virgo up the stairs and exit this horrid conversation.

"Virgo Prium and Cancier Moone!" a strong, stern, feminine voice that could only belong to Capricorn called from downstairs.

Virgo and I, stunned at someone using our whole names, turned quickly. Capricorn stood there, glaring at us, her hands positioned on her slim, flawless hips.

"I don't want to have to do this," she began threateningly, "But if you come to this party, I can give you both a limited edition, unwrapped, boxed set of hardback Harry Potter books and movies with additional footage, signed by J.K. Rowling herself. And I can even throw in front-row tickets and backstage passes for the 5 Seconds of Summer concert next month for the both of you."

Virgo and I froze, looking at each other, then at Capricorn, then back at each other again.

I didn't know about her, but Harry Potter and 5 Seconds of Summer were my life. Now I have the chance to get a limited edition box and movie set signed by one of my inspirations AND I get to see and meet the band that changed my life? And all I have to do is go to a stupid party?

This is the chance of a lifetime, and it's almost too good to be true.

"You promise?" Virgo said, narrowing her eyes.

Capricorn nodded, raising her right hand and saying, "Smoker's honor. We can ever shake on it."

She pulled her sleeves up and took her shoes and socks off so we could make sure she wasn't crossing any fingers and toes. Both Virgo and I shook her hand. I was wildly ecstatic about the whole thing. I could barely even shake her hand, because I was too busy trying to keep my own trembling under control.

"Good, I'll have the contract drawn up by morning." Virgo said in her usual clipped buisiness time before giving a curt nod and retreating back up the stairs like she'd been doing, though I could see her lips twitching as she tried with all her might to hold back a broad smile.

I giggled slightly, knowing she was just as much of a fan girl as I was.

"How'd you know we like Harry Potter and 55SOS?" I asked cocking my head to the side and looking curiously at a smirking Capricorn who chuckled and rolled her eyes. "What's not to love? There are way more Potterheads and 5Sauce fam than you think, Cance."

I just smiled and shook my head before thanking her and running upstairs to my room, shutting the door behind me.

I leaned against the door frame and let out the loud squeal I'd been holding on ever since Capricorn mentioned those tickets.

All I had to do was go to that stupid party, sir there for an hour or two reading fan-fiction, and I would be in the front row with English Love Affair blasting in my ears, and Michael Clifford's adorable smile flashing in my face.

It was a dream come true.

As I was dancing around the room happily and getting into my pajamas, a small white envelope strewn carelessly across my desk caught my eyes.

Oh yeah, I never opened that letter from earlier.

Crossing to the room and tearing the flap free from the envelope, I pulled the thin, creamy white glossy picture paper free and stared at it in bewilderment.

There was a picture of that weird statue in the commons and on the lower-right corner, typed in beautiful, scrawling cursive were the words:

Let the games begin, little stars.
