Come Tuesday afternoon, the only plans Emory had on his schedule were with Adeline. He had promised to take her out for ice cream, and he intended to follow through with it.

Red didn't know about it yet, and as soon as he found out, he'd want to tag along as well. Emory didn't want Red to tag along.

He could probably sneak out, but that'd be awfully suspicious. The best route would most likely be to simply lie about where he was going--say he was off to the grocery store or something like that.

After changing into a plain white t-shirt and navy blue jeans, he tugged the diamond ring off of his finger and shoved it into his front pocket before stepping out of his room, closing the door gently behind him to limit the amount of noise distributed.

Walking down the stairs, he glanced around, looking for Red. His eyes traveled to the spacious living room, in which Red was sprawled out on the main couch, on his back.

Emory scoffed lightly as he walked over, standing in front of him.

Red had his eyes closed, and his chest fell up and down slowly. He appeared to be asleep.

Emory touched Red's shoulder, pushing it slightly as he tried to wake him up. Before he could pull his hand back, Red grasped his wrist as his eyes shot open. He loosened his grip slightly as his gaze met Emory's before fully letting go and propping himself up on his elbows. "Do you need something?"

"No, I'm going to the store. Just wanted to let you know in case you got pissed off or some shit," Emory answered briefly, staring down at Red, subconsciously checking him out as Red's shirt hugged his muscles tightly.

Red sat up fully and grabbed Emory's hand, holding it up for Emory to look at, who just furrowed his brows with a confused expression. "If you remove that fucking ring one more time, I'm gonna stitch it to your hand."

Emory rolled his eyes and tugged his hand back. "It's a ring that doesn't mean shit. You act as if we're actually married."

"I paid 50,000 dollars for it." Red stood up, glancing down at Emory. "You're gonna wear it."

"I didn't want it in the first place. You're the one who had to lie to Adeline about our non-existent marriage. And you're not some broke loser, you have a shit-ton of money."

Red leaned down slightly until he was face to face with Emory, his gaze locked onto him. "Watch your attitude, yeah?"

"What fucking attitude?"

Red scoffed before straightening back up, not once breaking eye contact. "I'll knock your fucking teeth out, watch the attitude, Emory."

Emory rolled his eyes but pulled the ring out of his front pocket, holding it up in front of Red's face. "See this?" He threw it across the room, sending it skidding across the floor.

Red ran a hand over his mouth, pausing as he looked down before speaking. "Go pick it up," He responded, his tone relatively calm and collected.

"No," Emory shrugged and took a small step back. "I'm leaving now, thanks."

Red narrowed his eyes slightly as he copied Emory's movement, moving forward. "I'll rephrase. Pick it up now, and I won't beat your ass."

"I doubt you would."

"Oh?" Red stepped forward again, his hand shooting out as he grabbed Emory by his hair, yanking his head upward as he forced direct eye contact. "Now, Emory."

Emory grunted slightly in response, hand pushing up against Red's chest. "Shit, okay, I'll fucking pick it up. Get off of me."

"And you'll wear it, yes?" Red kept his grip firm, not letting go just yet.
