Red followed Emory into the living room and watched as he sat on the couch, staring at his newly acquired watch. Red sighed, slightly annoyed that Emory thought he was joking when he previously wanted a kiss in return for the watch but quickly shook it off.
"So how's your eye?" Red asked, breaking the silence as he sat next to Emory. Emory shrugged, lifting his gaze to meet Red's.
"It's fine," He responded, leaning back against the couch.
"Have you been applying ice or anything to it?"
"I mean, I did,"
"When did you?"
"Um... I wet a towel after you left. Although, I didn't use it."
Red sighed in response, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Do you want it to go away?"
"I mean..." Emory began before Red started speaking once again.
"You do."
"How do you know what I want?"
"I say you do, so you do."
"Bullshit," Emory muttered, standing up off the couch and walking to the bathroom.
"Watch your language."
Emory returned a few minutes later with a wet cloth pressed over his eye. He sat, slouching down as he glared at Red.
"Why are you so irritated with having to put a fucking cloth against your eye?" Red asked, raising an eyebrow at the glare he was receiving. Emory rolled his eyes before replying.
"Because it... hurts a bit to press on."
"Too bad, suck it up," Red spat, pulling his phone out as he opened his messages app.
Emory dropped his arm by his side, letting the towel sit against the couch.
"Honestly, Parker shouldn't have even got a suspension. You should've just let me beat his ass," Emory mumbled, glancing at Red.
"Oh, yeah, I'll just let you get suspended instead," Red responded sarcastically, shaking his head as he typed something out.
"Who you texting? I don't think of you as the type to have many friends," Emory questioned, leaning over to look at Red's screen, who just turned his phone away.
"That's none of your concern. Cloth against the eye."
Emory scoffed but raised the cloth back to his eye.
"Good boy," Red muttered under his breath before turning his phone back to resume typing.
Emory stood up off the couch, stretching momentarily before turning to face Red.
"I've got places to be," He said, starting to walk to the kitchen. Red stood up and followed him, confused.
"Where?" Red asked, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Store," Emory answered, shrugging before grabbing his keys and approaching the front door.
"And get out of my house, Red."
Emory arrived at the supermarket a half hour later. He walked inside and gave Tyler a quick nod before going down one of the aisles. He got a few essentials, fruit, vegetables, stuff like that, and then got some candy. He placed it all on the counter and slid his card over to Tyler, who paused as he made eye contact with Emory.
"What the hell happened to your eye?" Tyler asked, furrowing his brows.
"Parker hit me, nothing new," Emory responded, pushing the card further toward Tyler.
"Damn. That's gotta hurt," Tyler snickered slightly as he rang Emory up.
They continued to talk for a while before Emory decided he wanted to leave.
"We have to hang out more, man," Emory added as he grabbed his groceries from the counter.
"Yeah, we do. I'm off Tuesday, how 'bout you come 'round mine?"
"I think I can make it. Thanks, Ty."
"No problem, see you around."
Emory walked out of the store, heading back to his car before a black Audi S8 pulled up next to him, blocking his path. He narrowed his eyes as he turned to go around the car, but the car just moved forward to continue getting in his way.
Just as Emory was about to approach the vehicle, the window rolled down and an arm came out, tapping on the car door. Emory glanced up and made eye contact with Red, who had a pissed expression on his face. Emory didn't care and he honestly didn't notice.
"Another car? What's the point in having so many?" Emory asked, taking a few steps towards it. Red sucked his teeth before responding.
"Doesn't matter. What were you two talking about in there?"
"What? We were just making plans to hang out. Why do you care?" Emory set his bag of groceries on the curb before stepping into the road and placing his arm on the roof of the car, leaning down so that he was level with Red.
"You aren't going to his house," Red stated, sliding his hand up and down the wheel.
"What the fuck? You don't..." Emory paused, removing his arm from the car. "how do you know I was going to his house? I didn't say that," He finished, taking a small step back.
"Do I need to repeat myself, Emory? You are not going to his house."
"Why the fuck do you care?" Emory yelled, getting more and more agitated by the second.
"Watch your tone—"
"No! You don't decide what I do with my life! Why does it even matter if I go to his house!?" Emory interrupted, running a hand through his hair.
"Emory, for fucks sake, listen to me! You aren't going to his house and that is final!" Emory paused for a moment after Red said this, seemingly thinking something over.
"Are you jealous?" He asked, a smug expression crossing his face. There was a short silence before Red spoke again.
"So what if I am?"
