Coming back from a function always feels like a different kind of exhaustion.

Getting ready? Fun.

Dealing with people? Annoying as hell.

But returning home after all that? Absolutely draining.

Right now, we've just walked in, and Bua Ji has already started her post-event lecture-complaining about how things could have been better.

And guess what, No one is paying attention.

Dad is busy giving Dadu his medicines, and Mom quietly escapes to her room. Taking that as a sign, Bhai and I slip away too.

The moment I step into my room, I kick off my heels and slide into my slippers, breathing in relief. But as I turn on the lights-

"You are late, Ruh."

A deep voice rumbles through the room, making my heart nearly jump out of my chest.

I turn around, eyes wide.

And there he is sitting on my bed like he owns the place, his both hand resting beside him, legs stretched out lazily, and that damn signature smirk on his face. His dark eyes lock onto mine, amusement flickering in them as if he is been waiting for this exact reaction.

I try to calm my heartbeat.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I whisper-yell.

He tilts his head, completely unfazed.

"I was missing you." His voice is low, smooth-like he just said the most obvious thing in the world.

"Are you insane? Do you even realize what time it is?" I muttered in anger.

Instead of answering, he pushes himself off the bed and starts walking toward me. Slow. Deliberate.

I instinctively take a step back. What is this idiot Chimpanzee planning now?

Before I can process, my back hits the door. Great.

Then-click.

My eyes widen.

Did he just lock the door?

My pulse went crazy. Vihaan leans in, his fingers grazing my wrist before trailing down my arm in a teasing touch.

His breath is warm against my skin as he whispers, "You really think I would let you go after the stunt you pulled a few hours ago?"
