Chapter Two Sad Goodbyes, Unpleasant Hellos

 -----------------------------------------

Adelyn's POV

After the applause died down, we were whisked away towards some rooms. The rooms where beloved family members, loyal friends and personal admirers come to bid you farewell. As well as some emotionally hugging, crying and clinging to familiar people. Not that I expected that to happen to me; I know only Griffin will visit me. She's practically the only sister I've got and now the stupid kingdom is taking her away from me.

I quietly sat on one of the chairs and peered out the window. I saw birds chirping around the trees and a crowd gather around the house; probably waiting for those three blondes.

Suddenly, the door bursts open and in came a disgruntled Griffin.

"What the fuck was that!? You don't go around volunteering your life for some stranger you know? Are you suidicial? Oh my god- I should've known! Or you have a death wish-? I-" she rambled on.

I rolled my eyes and stifled a smile. Only Griff managed to amuse me in even the worst situations. I smiled proudly at the memory when we first met.

---------------

It was August, a new school year. It was a horrible summer, my parents died in an attack and it was the beginning of middle school: where all the drama began. Hoping to avoid any of those bullies, I quickly scuttled towards my locker but I suddenly fell face flat onto the floor.

I looked up; glaring at the person who tripped me.

"What was that for?" I shouted.

The black-haired girl squinted at me. She was wearing a leather jacket with a band tee-shirt. Her striking green eyes were piercing into me with anger.

"You just happened to trip over me, it's not my fault."

"Well then, I guess you secretly have brain problems. I don't think people stand with their foot sticking up like this," I stuck out my foot mockingly to show a poor imitation of her stance.

"And no one walks around daydreaming you know, you probably are thinking you're too good for everybody." she shot back.

"But I'm not this little girl that thinks-"

Whack! I gasped at her in disbelief as plain blossomed on my right cheek. I clenched my fists in anger and lounged at her.

We fought with eachother; throwing punches and kicks, but we didn't realise the principal was standing there with a dissapointed look on his face.

"You two, office-now!" he tutted. "And the rest of you; get to class!" he said to the spectators of our fight.

When we both were in the office, we started to accuse eachother but he was having none of it; he gave us both a month of detention and sent us to our classes. The thing was, we had the exact same scheduele. Eventually after a few more detentions and some punches, we sorted ourselves out and became the best of friends. Turns out that she was also having a bad day and decided to lash back at me.

I chuckled at the memory and then felt Griffin poke me.

"What's up with you? You've been smiling like a retard for the past two minutes. Don't tell me you're secretly mental!"

"Griff!" I laughed. "Calm down! I'm not a retard, mental nor do I have a death wish." I cut her off as she started to speak. "And no, I do not have OCD."
