Misa pushed through the school gates and started walking. It had been one week since she had last seen Harry and it had been wonderful.

Not having Harry to egg everyone on,  people had finally been leaving her alone.

She had even eventually adjusted to not having the distractions of spitballs and hate notes and even teachers had noticed the change in her attitude.

Walking down the footpath she considered what she could do for the weekend.

She could drive to the beach but she remembered her car had broken down. Her trail of thought was cut off when, for some reason she shivered; the kind of shiver you get when someone is looking over your shoulder or when you get an unexpected gust of cold on your neck.

Looking around she observed her surroundings. There were cars driving past to get home from work or pick up students and children mucking around with their siblings at the front of their houses.

In the distance she could see kids streaming out the school gates eager to get home. It was the same as any day but she couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that someone was following her.

Crossing the road she changed direction and started walking down an alley to get home faster and try and get rid of the feeling that refused to leave the pit of her stomach.

Misa was feeling really scared by then and started slowly jogging home. She was nearly out of the dark, damp alley when she heard a crunch.

She froze, trying to hear it again. That was when she noticed how silent it was. There was literally no sound; whatsoever.

She didn't dare turn around, or move for that matter. CRUNCH. She heard it again,  and this time she knew it wasn't a rat or a feral cat. Whether it was the exploding of fear in her stomach or the fact that she thought she had heard silent cursing; she knew that that crunch was no innocent crunch.

It was like the giveaway crunch of someone sneaking up behind you.

It was the giveaway crunch, when they stood on that traitorous stick that they didn’t see cause they were too busy making sure you didn’t see them,

It was the crunch of a stalker...

Gaining her courage she slowly spun on her heel. Lifting her eyes off the ground she locked eyes with the stranger. The person was dressed in black but there was something about his eyes that seemed so familiar.

Shaking off her stupidity she slowly backed up. Instead of chasing after her like she had expected, his eyes watched her with amusement.

Slowly he approached her. He too could see she was ready to run. She was in a trance,  so scared she was frozen in place.

Slowly she regained the ability to move and sprung around, running away. He swore under his breath and started chase.

She could hear him gaining on her so she sped up. Nearly tripping, she ran to her house. She could see it, it was only a few metres away.

Using the last of her energy she ran through her door and locked it. Breathing out in relief she fell against the door. Catching her breath she listened for any noise, once again it was quiet.

Jumping up she ran around the house locking every door and window. Running up to her bedroom she packed a bag and prepared to get away.

She walked past the door and in her hurry to get to the kitchen,  she failed to see the tiny peice of paper under her foot. Slipping over she reached for it to see what it was.Turning it over with shaky hands she fumbled with the flimsy paper. The little breath she had flew out of her in a gasp as she read the words scrawled on the sheet. She read it twice just to make sure.

Eyes flitting across the room the words echoed in her brain.  Nice try.
