Hareem, that's what the Skin-shifter told me I should address him as.
He must've gotten fed up of me staring and just referring to him as it.

I know I would.

After a long time in the run we had come to a stop so that Lyris could so something about Mace's wound. The bleeding had somewhat stopped but so had the pace of his heart.

It scared me.

"Why didn't you do something?" Lyris asked, both of her glowing blue hands were over the wound in his back.

"I did. I tried to warn him but it was already too late. I. . . " I ran out of what to say, because I was just being selfish. Making up excuses when I know I hadn't really done anything except scream his name before that Skin-shifter pierced his back with its tail.

"You are so powerful yet so damn weak." her eyes drilled into mine and at those words, my head fell sadly.
She was right. I was beyond weak and what's worse she was not the first to tell me so.

These powers they claimed I hadn't I knew nothing about. Everything that had happened up to now, had all happened accidentally. I hadn't meant for any of it.

Hareem kneeled beside us, in his hands was a black leaf with a dark green paste. "She is not weak. She just doesn't have the knowledge of what she really is."

My mouth moved to say thanks, because he understood to some extent.

I really didn't know anything about what powers I had, he'll I wasn't sure about anything at this point.

Everything I thought I knew was gone. Everything logical and rational no longer mattered, because here nothing was impossible or improbable.

There were no rules.

"What's that?" I looked at the stuff in his hand and he did too.

"It's an old remedy found in certain trees, that will help heal wounds. Well it should but Neona's dark magic is stifling the land and everything."

"Neona?" I asked.

"That's her name. The Witch. Although many have stopped calling her that. They believe by saying her name, it somehow forms a connection that allows her to find you."

"Is it true?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Maybe, no one knows for sure."

"Do you know what she wants with me?"

Hareem looked at me before his eyes travelled over to Lyris, she was wearing a scowl and was giving him a warning glance.

"Hey, why can't he tell me? I want to know why she wants me."

Lyris eyes went back to Jace's face
"It isn't his or my place to tell you."

I was going to lose it. All the secrets and lies were driving me insane. "Then whose is it?"

"When we get you to The Order you will find out."

I wanted to say more but I know it would just be a waste of time. Lyris wasn't going to tell me anything and she would make damn sure Hareem didn't either.

So I dropped it and turned my attention back to Hareem. "So since it can no longer heal, why do you have it?"

He held it up to his nose and sniffed. "Oh it can still do that, it just needs something."

"What?"

His eyes met mine and the stare he gave me, made me have second thoughts about him. "Your blood."
