lukes depression has gotten worse over the past three years, bad enough for him to drop out of college after his second year.
michael, on the other hand, is now a senior in college. he started school two months ago, in august, and already has everything planned out. he got a job as an assistant for a photography business, and his boss has offered michael and job for after graduation as a head photographer, which michael gladly accepted.
luke has a job at hot topic, so the two boys are making a decent amount of money, enough to pay bills.
other than that, luke and michael's relationship has gone well. sure, they have their ups and downs, but their as happy as ever.

luke wakes up to the bed shifting. he watches as his pale boyfriend sits up and stretches before getting out of bed. as michael goes to the bathroom, luke goes down to the kitchenette and makes breakfast for michael. luke makes chocolate chip pancakes, because they're michael's favorite.
michael comes downstairs dressed and ready for work, then smiles when he sees a sleepy luke finishing the last batch of pancakes.
"morning, love," michael smiles, wrapping his arms around luke's side. luke smiles at his boyfriends touch.
"hi, baby," luke smiles back, putting the last pancake on a plate.
the boys grab two pancakes each and put syrup on them, then sit at the island and eat.
"how'd you sleep?" michael asks.
luke shrugs. "better, i guess. the sleeping pills kind of helped."
michael nods and finishes his breakfast before brushing his teeth in the bathroom, then slips his shoes on.
"ok, i'm leaving. have a good day," he smiles, wrapping his arms around luke's neck and pressing their lips together. after pulling away, michael smiles up at luke, then grabs his bag and leaves.
luke stands there for a second, then starts to clean the dishes. he then goes upstairs and lays down on michael's side of the bed, the scent of lilac perfume filling his nose. luke holds michael's pillow and buries his face into it. michael works for six hours a day, every weekday, and during those six hours luke is so sad and lonely. most days he sleeps or watches tv, unless he is also working, then he's a cashier at hot topic.
but today, luke doesn't have work, so he listens to music as he lays in bed and hugs michael's pillow.

luke spent the rest of his day showering and cleaning around the house. his the wonder years record spins on the turn table, and hoodie weather blares from the speakers. luke softly sings along as he organizes his and michaels record collection. he hears the door open and some profanities being thrown.
"baby, you alright?" luke asks the angry boy.
"no, not really," michael snaps.
luke jumps a little, then michaels face softens, seeing that he's scared luke.
"i'm sorry, lukey, i just had a bad day at work," michael apologizes. "our model for today's shoot was an hour late, then the photographer, jerry, forgot one of the cameras so i had to run back to the office and get it but i couldn't find it. it turns out that the camera was at jerry's house but i refused to go get it. when i came back to our first location everyone was gone and i had to drive for an hour to find the second location and by the time i got there they were all done."
"it's alright, babe," luke smiles. "why don't you go put something cozy on and i'll get us some chinese and we can snuggle on the terrace."
michael nods and plants and kiss on luke's cheek before heading upstairs. michael strips of his dress and cardigan and puts on red lace panties with bows on each hip and luke's black all time low crew neck. michael takes his makeup off, then goes back downstairs.
"new panties?" luke smirks as he takes some blankets outside.
michael nods and grabs some bowls, forks and napkins then puts them on the terrace coffee table. luke leaves to get the food, then comes back and sets everything up on the table. michael and luke get comfy in some blankets and eat. once a chilly breeze passes through, michael snuggles closer to luke.
once they finish dinner, michael and luke clean, then grab luke's laptop and movies. they decide to watch weird science and eat some popcorn michael fixed up.
