The four children sat in the kitchen next to the dead corpse, contemplating what to do.
"We could just come clean", Selyse pitched in.
"No, that can't happen, god knows what the consequences will be for me. I was doing everyone a favour anyway, the man was evil", snapped Axell who was clearly stressing out. Selyse's eyes were swelling up with tears.
"It's alright, Selyse. We will think of something", said Melessa. Melessa was always good at comforting Selyse, and Selyse at times loved her more than her more than her actual brothers, but didn't dare say it aloud. All of a sudden, Imry spoke up.
"We could all just make the departure tonight, Melessa could go by cart to Horn Hill, we shall go by ship to Dragonstone and that way no one will even realise he's missing until we are miles away..." He spoke thoughtfully.
"And even then", he went on "no one could prove it was Axell". Selyse's, Axell's, and Melessa's faces all lit up. The plan was set; all that was still needed to do was write a letter to the captain of the ship and the driver of the cart stating that the voyages will be moved to tonight and then forge their father's signature. And the body would just stay exactly where it was until someone discovered it some time later.
They sat there for about an hour before they were ready for the letters to be sent. None of their spelling skills were too great, which didn't help. Eventually, once everything was done, they all went to their rooms to pack. It had just hit Selyse that this was going to be the last time in her room; and the last time she was going to see Melessa, at least for a while. Obviously, she was thrilled that all her dreams had come true and she was going to marry Stannis, but she wasn't sure if she could leave it all behind- all the memories of her mother in the house. But she had to. Or Axell would be found out.
"Are we all ready?" Imry called out.
"Yeah", Axell and Melessa replied. Selyse stayed silent. On the way out of the door, Selyse looked back at the house she was never going to see again, and cried like she always seemed to do lately. Melessa soon appeared when she noticed Selyse was upset.
"It's alright, you will have a good and happy life with Stannis". Selyse thought Melessa was probably right, but she couldn't help feeling like after this she didn't deserve happiness at all.
