~*Chapter One*~

~*Phoenix's p.o.v.*~

“Phoenix Marie, come here now!” My mom, Elisabeth, shouted from the bottom of the stairs. I love my mom, I really do, but sometimes she’s really annoying. She is a mother, and you know how they get.

“Coming mom,” Throwing my hair up in a messy pony tail, I ran down the stairs and to the kitchen, where my mom was.  “Hey, what’s up?”

“Paisley isn’t feeling well, so I’m taking her to the doctor. Make sure Parris doesn’t get in any trouble, for me,” Frantically running around the kitchen, my mom read off a list of chores she wanted me to do.

“Mom, Parris won’t do anything bad, he hasn’t done anything social, yet alone bad, for weeks now.” She answered with a death glare. I flashed a cheesy grin as she walked out the door, without Paisley. “Uh Mom… you’re forgetting something.” Paisley giggled and ran out the door for mom. “PARRIS, IT’S JUST YOU AND ME TONIGHT!”

“Whatever,” was all I got out of him. Sighing, I went back upstairs and knocked on his door. “Can I come in?”

“Whatever.” I poked my head in to see him lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. “What’s wrong?”

                “Everything.”

                “Not everything can be wrong.”

                “Well, nothings right.”

“Come on, it was just a girl.”

“It wasn’t just any girl,” He sat up and folded his hands in his lap, “I loved her. I thought she loved me, but apparently not.”

“Parris there will be other girls, just c-“

“Not like her! Just go away.”

                “Please…”

“Get out!” Picking up the first thing he laid hands on, an alarm clock, he threw it at me. The alarm clock hit my shin, surprising me, and causing me to fall on my knees. “GAH!” I hugged my knees to my chest and examined the bruises. One by one, the tears rolled down my cheeks. My knees and shin we’re turning more and more purple by the second.

“Phoenix! I’m so sorry! Are you okay?!” Parris jumped off his bed and ran to my side.

“I’m fine,” I whispered, wiping stray tears off my check, “I’m fine.”

                “Oh yeah, then stand up.”

Slowly, I pulled myself up and stood there for about ten seconds until my legs gave out from pain. “Okay, so I’m not fine. Just help me up.”

“Okay, one… two… three,” He put my arm over his shoulder and picked me up bridal style.

“You know,” I wiped another stray tear, “For a fourteen year old you’re pretty strong.”
