~*Chapter Two*~
~*Phoenix’s p.o.v.*~
Sunlight poured into my room through the closed curtains, rudely waking me up. I groaned, attempting to ball up all my blankets and put them on my head. I succeeded, and tried to go back to sleep, but my alarm clock went off. Aggravated, I threw all my blankets off and threw my alarm clock at the wall, which surprisingly didn’t shut it up. “I GIVE UP!” I stomped over to the alarm clock, picked it up, and chucked it out the window. It hit a trash can which apparently had a cat in it… Worried for the poor cat, I ran to my window to see it scattering across the street. “SORRY KITTY!!!” I stretched and walked to my closet. “What to wear, what to wear?” I skimmed through my closet, deciding on an outfit. Examining my bruises from last night, I choose dark wash skinny jeans and a black Batman tank top. I straightened my hair, and applied black eyeliner and mascara. Pleased with my look, I slipped on black low-tops and ran down stairs. Parris was sitting at the table with my mom eating Coco Puffs and reading a… what was that a newspaper?? Alrighty then. Paisley came trudging down the stairs with her stuffed bear in hand. “Hey Pais, you okay?” She simply shook her head and my mom answered for her.
“Doctor said she’s sick, but they’re not sure what it is. They have no clue about her ankle; they’re doing an x-ray tomorrow. She has another doctor’s appointment today,” She talked really fast when she was occupied. “Phoenix, can you drive today? Paisley’s appointment is in an hour.”
“Uh, sure,” I grabbed my book bag and an apple. “Ready Parris?”
“Sure,” he threw his book bag over his shoulder and we walked out the door, to the car. “So, how was your talk with Dallas last night?”
“Uh… “ I looked around, searching for a different topic, “that is one pretty tree. So… barky…”
“Just answer the question,” he said, quiet rudely, throwing the car door of the blue Beetle open violently.
“Well then,” I started the car and headed for Logel High, “It was just fine.”
“Didn’t sound that way to me.”
“You were eavesdropping?!”
“No, I was on the front porch and you were yelling, so it was kinda hard not to hear what you were saying.”
“That’s a form of eavesdropping, Parris!”
“Oh well,” he shrugged and turned on the radio. Waiting Outside The Lines by Greyson Chance was the first song that came on. “Ugh, no.” He went to change it, but I slapped-stopped him.
“No, I like this song!” I turned it up all the way up and rolled down the windows.
