~*Chapter Three*~
~*Phoenix’s p.o.v*~
“Phoenix, Phoenix, Phoeeeeniiiixxxx,” I heard someone whispering my name and shoving me. They muttered something before screaming in my ear. “PHOENIX, WAKE UP!”
“AAHH!!” I shot up, hitting the person in the head with my head. “OWW! PARRIS!”
“AH! Well I wouldn’t have to be here if you didn’t throw your phone and alarm clock out the window!” He slapped my arm and turned to leave. “You’re driving; we’re leaving in 20 minutes.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, just leave,” I groaned, stretching out my arms and legs. I looked over on my bedside table to check the time, but the clock wasn’t there. There are some consequences for throwing your clock out the window. I rolled out of bed and strolled over to my closet. “What would be a good ‘humiliating yourself’ outfit…?” Jean shorts were out of the question, because you could still see the bruises. I chose grey acid wash skinny jeans, a navy blue tank top, and a grey and navy blue stripped cardigan. “I think that’s perfect for humiliating yourself. I mean, you pretty much do every day.” I whipped my head towards the door to see Parris standing in the threshold. “You think?” I slipped on navy blue low-tops, curled my hair, and applied some blue eyeliner and mascara. “Go get in the car, I’ll be there in a minute.” He nodded and scurried down the stairs. “Mom, can you come here?!” I yelled out my door.
“Coming, sweetie,” her heels tapped against the hard wood floor as she walked to my room. “What’s up?”
“Uh… so yeah, yesterday I got mad and threw my phone out my window,” Prepared for screaming, I shut my eyes and tucked my head in my cardigan.
I heard her let out a heavy sigh, “It’s okay, we’ll replace it later. I have to go to work I’ll be home at 6, will you drop Pais at school, please?” Lifting my head out of my cardigan, I sighed.
“Yeah, sure.” She kissed my forehead before exiting the room. “Pais, you ready for school? We gotta leave in 5 minutes.”
“Yeah,” happily, she tottering into my room and held up a purple stuffed panda. “Look what I got Xie,” she smiled big and handed me the panda.
“Cute, what’s it for?” Smiling, I handed the panda back to her and grabbed my bag.
“Her birthdays today,” she explained, examining the panda.
“Okay, go get your bag let’s go. I cannot be late.”
“Okay but Fee,” she grabbed my hand and looked at me sadly. “Will you pick me up if I don’t feel good?”
“Yes, just call me, okay? Okay, go get your stuff; I’ll be in the car.” I ran down the stairs, and to the car. “Hey, sorry, we have to drop off Pais too, so…. Get out.”
“Why do I have to get out?”
“Um so she can get in.” Paisley came out to the car carrying a Tinker Bell backpack and the purple panda. “Let’s go!” We finally got settled and headed for Logel Elementary. “Bye, Pais, call if you get sick.” Once she got out, I drove as fast as I could to get to school early. “Why are we going to fast?” Parris gripped onto the side of the car.
