Chapter 39: Battle Of Monsters

Khaos Brigade Base

Greyfia and Mephisto were staring down Raziel. Both sides weren't making a move but sizing up the other. The fallen-vampire hybrid had a look of hate on his face as he looked at the two Devils.

"You damn Devils are like cockroaches. Why won't you all just die?" Raziel roared, frustrated that he failed to slaughter Mephisto.

Greyfia didn't answer the abomination; instead, she used her magic to create several icicles and launched them at the hybrid at high speeds.

Raziel responded in kind, creating crimson light spears to counter the ice attacks. His body started to glow with his powerful aura, showing that he was preparing a massive attack.

"I grow tired of dealing with you devils. So be gone from my sight, Crimson Radiance," Raziel shouted out the name of his attack, which appeared as a beam of red light that disintegrated everything it touched.

"Tsk, if that hits, it would be bad," Greyfia said to herself. She had also been storing up magic to match whatever attack Raziel would launch. "Subzero."

Greyfia said the name of her attack, which was not really an attack. She was just trying to freeze the light attack by lowering its temperature to absolute zero.

The silver-haired woman's plan only partially worked, as the light attack was slowed down to the point that she could dodge it. However, this might leave Mephisto open for an attack, so Greyfia instead created several ice and magic barriers to take the attack.

BOOM

When Raziel's attack hit Greyfia's barriers, there was a massive explosion that created a huge amount of dust and smoke, obstructing Mephisto and Greyfia from Raziel's sight.

"Come out of there, you filthy creature! I know you both are still alive," Raziel demanded. He could feel the two Devils' auras in the smoke. "Or stay in there and die."

Raziel created hundreds of light spears and aimed them at where he thought the two Devils were. Soon, the ground was filled with crimson light spears, but as the smoke cleared, Raziel was shocked to see that he had hit nothing, and the two Devils were gone.

"Where are you? Come out now and face me," Raziel roared in rage. He flew over the battlefield, sword in hand, looking around wildly for his two prey. "Show yourselves, you cowards."

"Ice shard," came Greyfia's voice from above Raziel, who didn't get the chance to look up before a huge ball of ice slammed him back down into the ground.

"You bitch, I will kill you," Raziel exclaimed after he broke the ball of ice that was on top of him. He looked up at Greyfia, about to throw himself at the she-devil, but was stopped by Mephisto's voice coming from directly behind him, leaving a question in his mind that he whispered out, "How, how the fuck did you get behind me?"

To Raziel, he could not believe that they managed to get the drop on him in his true form. For one, his senses are enhanced, and his ability to sense magic and aura is second to none. So, how did they do it?
