....
I sigh heavily when we finally left the extravagant party and got home. The limo took us back to Ludwig's house, a chilling memory of when I stayed there with him and when he almost-
"I'll take you home" he said when I stood awkwardly after alighting from the limo.
I said nothing but got into the front seat of the car he brought me from home with. He got in heavily beside me, his weight shaking the car. When he didn't start the car immediately, I stole a glance at him.
"Jax uhn?" He rubbed the side of his nose.
"Yeah?" I blurted.
"He's an investor's son. What was that with him?."
I caught his eyes, he had a solid no joke look on his face, expecting a serious answer.
"He's someone I know very well and this is my life too, I can talk to anyone I want" I said coldly.
"Listen, we need everything to be perfect down to the very last detail of us being together to the press. You hugging other guys doesn't quite fit the picture" he said.
"My dad, your dad and YOU need this perfection. I don't even understand what I'm being dragged into but I'm gonna go find out soon. I'm not going to let my dad or your dad or even you tell me what to do with my life. I'm only playing along with your stupid pun for a while and I have my right to talk to whoever I want."
He scoff laughed, turning away and began to tap his hand on the wheels, "You like getting hit?."
I glanced at him, shocked.
"I saw that mark on your cheek from earlier on, I know what's going on. If you don't want them to keep doing that to you, don't try to act smart. We are going to get married Ree and there's nothing you can do about it. Not now, not ever."
We'll see about that!. I'm sure I'll figure everything out the moment I call my mom's lawyer, I just need to get my hands on my phone first.
"You need to wear this" he passed me a box he brought out from his bucket.
"What that?."
"Our engagement ring."
*****
Just play along Ree, just play along till you get a hand of the situation. Just play along till you can fight back.
I took the ring but didn't put it on, this was never what I would have wanted my engagement to be like, not me being oblivious and me putting the ring on my finger instead of the love of my life.
This sucks!.
I alighted from his car without a goodbye and walked towards the mansion of hell—my house. It was way pass nightfall already.
As I walked into the house, I was greeted by Omar, who had an excited look on his face.
"Levi is here" he announced stopping in front of me, "He's upstairs in his room."
"What?" I didn't know how to feel, relieved, happy, sad. "What about Lila?. Is she here too?" Maybe everything would be fine after all.
"No" Omar's cold NO slashed through my heart.
He led me to find Levi anyways, "Where did you go?. Why are you dressed like that?" He asked as we ascended the stairs.
"I'm engaged."
"Engaged?. On social media?."
I mentally faced palmed myself, "They want me to get married to Ludwig because of a business deal."
