The bar started to get more and more crowded as the time grew closer for the battles to start and Harry was as energetic as a chihuahua on crack. The opponent they were up against beat them when they were first starting out. Alex & Sierra wiped the floor with them. Harry and Niall were good sports and all, but it would be nice to beat them. Now that they were way better than then, Harry and Niall wanted to prove themselves to everyone and to A&S.

Niall checked his watch to see 7:27 pm. He could see Calum Hood walking up to the stage. Calum was like Steven's disc jocky/announcer. Harry and Niall were in the back, behind the stage in this soundproof room that the artists were allowed to use to practice before their battle so when there was one going on, they were practicing for theirs.Their battle wasn't for a least another hour, but they got to hang out there after they finished practicing on the stage. The room had instruments and mics all hooked up to amps in a square so the artists could practice or warm up. In the room there was a huge window next to the door that was placed so that the back of the stage was in view, which is coincidentally where Calum was walking up with a mic in his-

"STEVEN'S HOW ARE WE DOING TONIGHT?!" Calum yelled to the crowd of 3,000, met with an uproar of applause and cheers. Steven's was a huge place and everyone who loved music in that town was there, along with the ones outside waiting in line.

"Who's first?" Niall inquired to Harry, who pulled out the bracket from his back pocket, as Calum hyped up the crowd.

"Uh..a country match. Sam Hunt vs Hunter Hayes." Harry responded, stuffing it in the back pocket of his legging like skinny jeans.

"Country? Huh, that hasn't happened in a long while."

"Should we go check out the artists?"

"There are people everywhere, Hazza."

"Do you not remember that every artist has a blue X painted on their hand?"

"So your plan is to go and check everyone's freaking hand? How is that gonna work? 'OH YES HELLO HI MAY I SEE YOUR HAND THERE oh never mind'?"

"psh..no.." Harry nervously blushed, turning away from the blond.

"We're not gonna do that. That's insane."

"Excuse me can I see your hand?" Niall asked a teenager on the side of the stage as Birdy performed her song. She introduced it as Skinny Love. It was just her and her piano. Harry liked it and was softly bobbing his head to it. Vance Joy had just finished his song Riptide. Harry liked it, too but Birdy had so much emotion. So much power. And he thinks the crowd saw it too because they were in complete silence, just completely dumbfounded.

The teenager told Niall to sh.

As Birdy played and sung the final notes to her song, the crowd erupted into applause and screams.

Calum snapped out of his trance when the crowd started to scream, almost tripping as he ran up the stairs to the stage with his mic, to do the crowd procedure.

"Wow..that was just brilliant." Calum almost whispered into his mic, looking out into the crowd. "But we gotta do this. VANCE! WHERE YOU AT? GET UP HERE IT'S TIME TO VOTE!" A man with messy/curly/wavy hair ran past Niall, who he assumed was Vance. As Vance got onto the stage, Calum out his right arm around him as he had his left around Birdy. "Alright. Two great artists here. But it is time to decide who wins this battle and goes up against Lilo in the next battle." "Lilo..?" Niall mouthed to Harry, who shrugged.
