I need to explain what has happened. Me and...and...John Romeson. Everyone claims that he doesn't exist. All the records have been erased. I know he existed and know he's somewhere out in space in a burning spaceship which apparently is the key to saving earth. So here is the beginning of my story. You need to know what happened.
It was a crisp morning on the Space Station outside of Jupiter when I woke up. It felt like all other days, it felt normal, no getting lost in space, landing on a "deserted" planet. Just going to school, doing homework, doing chores, and hanging out with my weird, but best friend Chelsey. So anyway, I remember getting up at 7:00 am and shoveling down my breakfast so I would be on time for the retrolift. My Mom wasn't there, I assumed she wanted to be with dad at the launch. I opened the front door of our apartment and started on my way the retrolift when Chelsey came running up to me out of breath.
"Cassie...Huh...Accident...Dad..."
I didn't let her finish I raced of to the launch pad as fast as my skinny legs could carry me. When I got there I saw nothing but confusion. People were running around everywhere and all I heard was crying, yelling, and...screaming. All I know is that I had to get to my Dad. I headed for the new ship and everyone else was in too much of a confusion to stop me.
I got to the launching center and looked around frantically for my Dad. I saw him inside the ship helping other crew members to get out. I couldn't get to him. Then I took a glance at the message board. ABORT, ABORT, ABORT, ABORT. Yeah you get the gist of that. It didn't help me at all, I wanted my Dad and I wanted to know what was going on! Then I heard the engine on the ship start. I looked around in the crowd of workers that had been evacuated from the ship. My dad wasn't with them.
I ran frantically towards the ship. I was almost through the door when a strong hand grabbed me from behind. It was Marco, one of the workers on my Dad's shift.
"Cassie! What are you doing."
"I got to find my Dad!" I said as I managed to worm my way out of his grip.
I ran into the ship and heard the creak of the automatic door as it slid up. I looked back and yanked on the release cord. It didn't budge. I saw Marco trying to open it from the outside with the same results as I was having. The platform began to move back and I watched Marco dissapear. I frantically banged on the door, trying to find someway to get off this ship.
I heard the cool voice of the computer, "Ignition sequence engaged. Take off in 10"
There had to be some way out of here.
"9"
I started screaming and pounding on the inner plexi-glass
"8"
"Help Me!"
"7"
"Disengage!"
"6"
I leaned against the door and started crying. I had no idea how to pilot a space ship and in 4 seconds I'll be on my way to my death.
"5"
I'll never see my family again. Not my mother, not my older brother. I may not even see humans any more.
"4"
"No"
"3"
"2"
"Goodbye"
"1, Ignition"
I looked out the door and saw the flames of the engine the brief moment that I saw the over the wall seperating the take-off pad and the platform I saw Marco and my brother Caleb.
Goodbye World, I thought.
