I'm on my way to a small settlement 30 miles out of town, a guy who calls himself "Pathfinder". He calls himself a spiritual pacifist, you and I might call him a hippie.
I just arrived at Pathfinder's house. As I walk up I see him wearing the classic hippie gear. Headband, big glasses, jeans and sandals. He had no shirt on. He sees me and takes a puff of what I presume is a cigarette. He puts out the cigarette in an ashtray and gets up to meet me. He does a small bow and says "Nameste, friend. Welcome to my bungalow."
We begin to talk. I begin
"What made you decide to do this? Live like you do?"
"Man, do we even chose what we do. I went with the flow. I didn't choose this life. It chose me."
"Do you do any drugs?"
"I don't like the word drug, it has a negative connatation. I prefer alternative medicine.
"So is that a yes?"
"Oh yeah."
"What kind of medicines?"
"Only the natural ones."
"Like?"
"Coca, iajuaska, marijuana, shrooms, salvia, and I also do LSD, but it's not natural."
"Why do you do so many?"
"To open my mind man, grow my spirit, see the dead. Marijuana is just great."
"When did you start using these medicines?"
"I was in my twenties. I'm in my thirties as of now. I think."
"Do you not know your age?"
Not particularly. Man, you need to calm down, you're shaking. Here try this."
He hands me a bong, the bowl is packed full. He hands me a lighter. I take a huge rip, this is a good sized bowl, probably held an eight. I thank him.
"Oh fuck, that was salvia. Well, see you in 30 minutes"
I manage to utter "what do you mean?" Before I saw a huge spider crawl over Pathfinder's bungalow. I begin to panic and back up. I trip on a rock and the spider leaps on too of me, it's mouthpieces are getting closer to my face when it dissipates into a fine mist.
"Oh hey" he said
"What the fuck was that?"
"The good shit, enjoy?"
"No, not at all."
"Good, no one likes salvia."
"Now here's some pot to calm your nerves. I smell it and I recognize the smell. It's G6. I load the bong and take a massive rip. I get high as a kite.
