Taehyung spotted Jeongguk leaning against his bike, looking effortlessly cool as always, like he wasn’t a lying, unreliable asshole. Taehyung scowled.
Unbelievable.
He sped up his pace, determined to walk right past him.
“Taehyung!”
Nope. He didn’t hear that.
“Taehyung!” Jeongguk jogged up beside him. “I was calling your name, why aren’t you listening?”
Taehyung clenched his jaw and muttered, “Go away.”
Jeongguk raised an eyebrow. “Okay—ouch? What did I do now?”
Taehyung stopped so abruptly that Jeongguk almost ran into him. Slowly, dramatically, Taehyung turned around, arms crossed, eyes filled with pure betrayal.
"You asshole."
Jeongguk’s lips parted. "Wait, wha—"
"You told me you’d call me yesterday,” Taehyung hissed, voice rising like he was accusing Jeongguk of murder, “but you didn’t!”

An evening before
Taehyung had been lying in bed, phone in hand, staring at the screen with the kind of intense focus usually reserved for NASA scientists before a rocket launch.
He had not been waiting for Jeongguk’s call.
No, he was simply… monitoring the situation. Casually.
11 p.m. passed. No call.
12 a.m. passed. Still no call.
At 1 a.m., Taehyung sat up in bed, pouting aggressively.
"That idiot," he muttered. "Maybe he's busy."
By 2 a.m., he was lying flat on his back, arms spread like a tragic painting, staring at the ceiling in silent suffering.
"This is fine," he whispered. "I’m not even mad. Nope. Not mad at all."
At 2:30 a.m., he checked his phone again. Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
He scowled at the screen. "Stupid Jeon," he muttered, tossing the phone away dramatically—only for it to land right beside him again. His resolve lasted precisely five seconds before he reached for it again.
Ding!
His heart leaped as his phone screen lit up. He scrambled to grab it, excitement bubbling in his chest—
Only for his entire soul to deflate.
Sara.
Taehyung stared at the name flashing on his screen like it was a tax notice he had no intention of dealing with.
The phone buzzed, demanding his attention, but he just sighed, letting it ring twice before answering with all the enthusiasm of a man being forced to attend a Monday morning meeting.
"Hello, Sara."
"Hi, Taehyung!" she chirped, her voice a little too bright for his current mood. "Were you about to sleep?"
"Yeah," he deadpanned, already regretting picking up. "About to."
"Oh! I won’t keep you long!" she rushed to say, completely missing the lack of excitement in his tone.
"I just wanted to let you know that our engagement outfits are ready! We can go for fittings soon!"
Taehyung’s jaw tightened.
