The hottest day that summer in July is spent packing–their summer plans have been mostly ruined, not being allowed to write more than severely censored and boring letters to their friends, and not being allowed to go further than out-of-sight in their own backyard. The only day they managed to sneak away was the twins' birthday, when they decided confound it all and dodged Molly until they could get to their hidden spot through the marsh, spending the time hidden away under the great old oak and soaking in the sun until Ron had finally come to find them and call them back for dinner and dessert. Y/n had given Fred a book on the history of jokes, with a short, sweet note written on the inside cover, and for George she had gotten a bracelet she found at an antique shop that, as they discovered, belonged to someone in his extended family.

While Y/n is not of age and can't use magic yet, the twins' can, allowing them to further their charm work outside of Hogwarts and making their time creating more stock with ease, much to the dismay of their mother. They also passed their Apparition tests at the beginning of the summer holidays, allowing them to pop about the house and scare the bejesus out of everyone–including Y/n, at first, who eventually gets used to it but nevertheless remains cheeky and jealous.

Regardless, they spend their days cooped up in the twins' room, working on inventions to sell when they get back to Hogwarts, and planning more fervently now more than ever their shop and business. The only interesting letters, in fact, are the ones sent back and forth between them and the man who owns their targeted shop on the corner. 93 Diagon Alley, perfectly in the middle of the hustle and bustle and a perfect place to open.

Over the summer, she gains her own bedroom, on the same floor as the twins–albeit through an unfortunate set of circumstances. Percy has left for London, taking everything with him, not telling any of them much about where he is living, and thoroughly denying his father's guess that his rising in ranks in the Ministry is so that they can try to keep tabs on the Weasley family. He upkeeps the information that Voldemort has not returned, which they all know is "complete bogus," as Fred states one evening, and the house's mood deteriorates further. So over the course of the month of June, they move in her bed, and get her a few new or second-hand-but-still-rather-nice things, such as a rug, a full-length mirror to look in, and a few cozy sitting chairs, as well as switching her dresser for a rather nice, large wardrobe that's been enchanted to be bigger still on the inside, thanks to Mr. Weasley. The twins gift her a lovely blanket set as well, which she scolds them immensely for, taking the Triwizard winnings from which they pulled the money and keeping it securely hidden in a hexed chest beneath her bed.

Their boredom for Fred and Y/n is alleviated, somewhat, now that they've cleared all muddled feelings and made things perfectly right–they're together, that is. Poor George, the girl muses initially, thinking of his girlfriend far across England, but the thought melts as soon as Fred leans in for a whisper, let alone a kiss.

So on one fine day in England, it's exactly what they're doing, sitting tucked away on Fred's bed, Y/n laid half on top of him and lazily peppering his face with her mouth. George lays on his bed across from them, writing an unfortunately (though not being his fault) poor letter to Angelina. When Fred moves to meet his lips to Y/n's, however, the door bangs open–causing both of them to jump violently, Y/n tumbling over to lay on her back next to the boy. It's Ron, standing there in the doorway with a disgusted look on his face.

"Ugh," he hacks, "You two are gross."

"Oh, hush!" Y/n scolds. "Or your mum will never even let us look at each other again."

"It's almost preferable," Ron says, but nevertheless he remains quiet–Fred had threatened to put spiders in his bed at the beginning of the summer, and the boy isn't going to risk it. "Anyway–mum wants you all to get down to the kitchen. She says she needs to talk to everyone."
