Chapter 10 Steven (and Y/n) the sword fighter

We open up to a rainy day at Steven's house. Outside Lion and Luna are laying under the patio with each letting out a yawn. Inside we see Steven, Y/n and the gems watching a movie about a sword fighter.

Steven: "Oh, Lonely Blade, you so lonely." The movie plays revealing a janitor being the main bad guy "What?! The janitor is the evil samurai president?! That's bananas!"

Pearl: "Oh, come on. It was so obvious. He's been mopping in the background of every fight scene."

Y/n: "He's even on the cover of the box. Not very surprising or even a twist reveal"

Steven: "Oh, yeah!" The movie goes on with steven cheering for the main protagonist "Go, Lonely, go! Do the boomerang blade again!"

Pearl: "Oh, come on. This is ridiculous. Just look at their form. This is nothing like real sword-fighting."

Steven shushes her as Y/n speaks

Y/n: "It's just a movie, Pearl. Not really meant to show real sword fighting or anything, just entertainment"

Pearl: "Well, if you two ever want to see a demonstration of proper sword techniques, I'd be happy to show you." Steven places a hand on her with stars in his eyes "Now?"

We then cut to a ruined temple with the group sitting on some steps aside from pearl who's at the front.

Pearl: "All right. In order to give a proper demonstration, I'm going to need a sparring partner. Luckily, I have the perfect candidate right here."

She projects a duplicate of herself from her gem

Steven: "Cool! Hologram Pearl!"

Y/n: "I gotta get a list of what you guys can do with your gems one day"

Holo-Pearl: "Do you wish to engage in combat?"

Pearl: "Let this be the perfect battle."

Holo-Pearl: "You've already made a mistake by challenging me.

Pearl: "We shall let our swords decide."

Amethyst: "Nerd!"

Steven shushes her as Y/n chuckles

Holo-Pearl: "Commencing duel."

Holo-Pearl charges at the real pearl as they start the duel. The impact of their initial clash sending a strong gust of wind out knocking Steven off his feet as Y/n barely stays on his.

Holo-Pearl: "Defense rank "S." Zero openings detected."

Steven: "Go, Pearl, go!"

Y/n: "You got this!"

Amethyst: "Go, Holo-Pearl!"

Y/n gives her a 'seriously' look as Pearl narrows his eyes at the purple gem. This small distraction letting Holo-Pearl knock her sword out of her hand.

Holo-Pearl: "Opening detected."

Ducking under a swing Pearl recovers her weapon and swiftly defeats Holo-Pearl

Holo-Pearl: "Match. Set. Challenger wins!"

Steven runs up to Pearl

Steven: "Whoo-hoo! Yay, Pearl!"

Holo-Pearl: "Do you wish to battle again?

Steven: "Pearl! That was amazing! You were so cool!"

Pearl: "Oh, well. One does try their best."

Steven: "Will you teach me to sword-fight like you? All right, but we should start with the basics. Initiate training mode."

Holo-Pearl: "Training mode initiated. Level 1. begin!"
