It was the beginning of my freshman year. New school, New friends, New everything. I had just moved to Virginia with my mom, my little brother and my German Shepard, Sutton.
We were getting everything out of the U-Haul and into the house. It was almost 90 degrees outside so by the time we were done unloading everything into the apartment complex I had a couple drops of sweat dripping down my face ruining my makeup that had taken me an hour to get perfect.
It was 12:30 in the afternoon and I pulled my thick light brown hair back into a messy ponytail. "Are we done for today Mum?" I asked hoping I could go out and swim in the pool enclosed by a metal fence out back.
"For now," My mother replied with a sigh at the end while she sat down into one of the camping chairs we had in the living room. By the time I was ready to go down Dylan already had his green and blue swimmers on and a towel around his neck. I grabbed a towel and iPod and we were out the door, we headed down the flight of stairs that lead to the back lobby which connected to the deck to the in-ground swimming pool.
The water shimmered where the scorching sun was hitting in. Dylan jumped right in while I laid my towel out on the deck so I could tan. As I went to lay down on my towel, belly up I turned my music on and put my headphones in.
About 15 minutes had passed and as I was turning onto my stomach so I could tan my back. I paused my music and I looked around for Dylan, he was still swimming in the pool, but he was playing with a couple of younger kids now. "Dylan! You better be playing nice!" I yelled loud enough for him to hear me and at around the same time I turned my head to the right and there he was...
