/ arya/

unexpected weird things happened before my eyes. my heart shank for what i have recently seen, and forever wishing that i could bring back time and redo whatever happened before.

everything was normal once again in just a blink of an eye, no fights, no drinking, no smoking, nothing. and it was all because of stranger named mattew beside me.

and before i even knew what was particularly happening, we were all eating dinner by the dining table, celebrating my birthday.

-

/ matthew /

i did what i had to.

it surprised the living heck out of me for what i have seen for like an hour ago and i did not even expect it. i got scared, really, especially i felt that it may harm arya.

even though she did not know what i did, i still needed to do so because it was for her own good, and it would even harm her if i did not use what i had.

magic.

shaking the thought off, we were all eating by the table, laughing at some joke this guy named jack g said. i introduced myself as arya's best friend back in middle school, so it would sound a little convincing.

"so matthew," jack g interrupted the laughter between all of us, as i looked up at everyone who was now looking back at me. "you and arya?"

my eyes widened, and i glanced at arya who almost choked on her drinking bottle.

"jack!" she half-yelled, scoffing at him "stop it."

"why?" jack g smirked.

"god, this is so fucking humiliating, i don't know what's wrong with you people, you always humiliate the living hell out of me." tears formed from the corner of eyes and before we even knew it, she stood up and stormed upstairs leaving us all dumbfounded.

the oddest thing was, no one even ran after her except me.

-

i followed her to her room and silently knocked as i heard sobs coming from the inside. "arya, please," i knocked once more. "open up."

i heard her footsteps across, as i sighed in relief, yet still feeling a little frustrated.

the door clicked open and there she was, barefoot, still wearing the same clothes with bloodshot eyes and tearstained cheeks. her hair was dead messy and she was catching her breath badly.

"what, m-matthew?" we were just standing in front of each other.

i was about to hug her when she took a step back.

"no!" she yelled, making my heart fall a hundred feet below. "i don't know who you are, i don't know why you're h-here, i-i don't know, matthew!" she ran her fingers through her thick brown hair, as tears began to stream down on her cheeks once again.

i felt like being stabbed in the heart for so many reasons, and one of those reasons was seeing her cry.

"please don't cry, i-i will take care of you and just please, believe me."

"how?"

"give me some time, i will prove it to you." i reassured her with a smile. "i will be the one who will take care of you."

literally.

her face became pale, like her blood vanished.

"lies," she shook her head and sighed. "no one even gives a fuck about me in my own house, but you? i just met you earlier and now you're telling me this? goddamn." she sat by the corner of her bed as i did beside her.

"i don't tell lies," i tilted my head so i could see her. "lies cut the heart."

"big or small, lies are lies." she sighed once more.

"well, i don't tell lies because my parents told me they were wrong." i smiled, as she did.

"everyone lies, like faking their own smiles, making other people believe they're happy because there are smiles planted on their faces."

her choice of words surprised me, and they were nothing more but dead accurate.

i didn't reply as she smirked at me. "you see."

"well yeah," i shrugged my shoulders.

"matt?"

"hm?"

"will you be there for me though we just met?" i can sense that she was nervous by just the sound of her voice shaking.

"i will, and i don't make promises i can't meet."

unexpected, she hugged me and i did back. "thank you."

"you're welcome, i won't let you down. happy birthday again."

-

soon enough,  i made my way back downstairs because arya finally had a good night sleep.

arsyn and her friends were watching television.

"uhm, i'm going home guys."

"thank you, matthew." arsyn said, waving her hand at me as i did too.

"i'm off now, bye!" i smiled at them and the were all waving at me telling me to be careful.

as i stepped out, someone stopped me.

i turned around to see this white haired guy who's name was sammy wilk or something like that.

"matthew, promise me one thing though we just met." he gave me a look of sympathy.

"what is it? and sure man." i smiled at him.

"promise me you won't leave and hurt her, she's really fragile and had her heart broken a bunch of times, so be don't be that guy who fuck with girls by breaking their hearts. so if you knew that you ain't like that yourself, i'm proud of you." he nudged his head upwards and smiled at me.

"i won't and yeah i hate seeing other people hurt, and i promise you i won't hurt her. i gotta go now, i'll see you soon."

"bye man, see you soon." i turned my back against him and hopped inside my car as i started to drive back home.
