"Drop me, you bastard!"
"I got you!"
"I told you to put me down, damn it!"
Katsuki's fist pounded Izuku's back, and both of them hit the ground again, tangled and gasping.
I leaned forward, heart thudding.
They weren't teammates. Not yet. But maybe... maybe they were starting to become something else.
"Kacchan," Izuku panted, leaning against a wall, "I really can't think of a way for us to beat All Might. Or get out of here clean without him catching us."
He pulled himself up slowly.
"But before you give up, we can at least try using my power. You can't say you're okay with losing. You're you because you never give in."
He's right. He's so right.
I remembered the way Katsuki had trained with me, how he refused to let me break—how he shouted at me, pushed me, stood beside me when everyone else backed away.
He didn't give up on me. Not once. Not even when the dragon almost burned us both to ash.
"You're always fighting," Izuku said.
Yep. Mostly with himself. But still.
"The most amazing hero always wins. You've been saying those words since we were little kids," he added.
Katsuki's jaw clenched.
"How can you give up now?"
Katsuki yelled, his Quirk flickering in his palm. I saw it before the others.
Everyone tensed—but instead of blasting Izuku...
He punched the wall. Right next to him.
"I won't say it again, so listen, you useless nerd." His voice was low. Controlled. Focused.
"All Might's speed is insane. No matter where you try to run or hide, there's no way we'll avoid fighting him."
He still didn't look at Izuku. But he didn't need to.
"Yeah, but we don't stand a chance in combat," Izuku argued, eyes wide. "You saw what he did back there!"
Or felt it.
"Shut the hell up before I kill you!" Katsuki barked.
Izuku flinched. And yet... stayed.
"He won't be stopped by anything less than a full-power attack", Katsuki thought aloud. "I learned that earlier with my mini blasts."
Wait... what?
Izuku's eyes widened—mine too. He's planning something.
"So we give him everything we've got. Point-blank. Inflict damage. Then create distance."
A strategy. He's finally thinking.
On the monitors, All Might sprinted across the city.
"Where did Young Midoriya run off to?" he boomed. "Since he's hiding... is he heading for the escape gate?"
Then Katsuki appeared, charging out from the alley. "You're going the wrong way!" He launched upward, aiming high.
All Might turned, grinning wide. "That's supposed to be a sneak attack?"
Katsuki fired an explosion straight at his face. All Might shielded himself, stepping back. He hit the ground and launched another. And another.
"DEKU!"
