I almost immediately knew why he was the steamer.

He was steaming hot.

He was sort of skinny, with darkish blue skin. His hair looked like a hedgehog and was bright orange. He wasn't exactly buff, but he was very muscular. His eyes were the sort of eyes that you swore could change color. From green, to grey, to brown. I couldn't tell if he was sexy, or scary. He looked ready to beat someone up.

My heart rate increased tenfold. /what is happening to me?!/ I thought with a sort of frightened smile.

"Why are we hiding from Xen? He's nice!" Lilly called out and rushed out of our hiding spot.

"Lilly!" I called out, frightened.

Lilly immediately tackle-hugged Xen.

"Lilly! Shush. I've caught word some demon is hunting me." Xen whispered urgently.

/I am supposed to hunt him.../ I thought sadly. /he's talking about me.../

"Well... Maybe my new friend can help you hide! She wanted to hide from you, she is so silly. She's an angel!" Lilly giggled and grabbed onto Xen's hand. His eyes softened ever so slightly and allowed himself to be dragged by Lilly over to our hiding spot.

"Come on out. Don't be afraid." Xen said in a reassuring, calm voice. I want to rush to him. I want to hug him. Why do I want to hug him? I should be hunting him.

"I can't." I choke out, finding words difficult. "If you see me you'll hate me."

"Lilly," Xen whispered, suddenly frightened. "What did you say she was?"

"An angel." Lilly answered with a smile. She then ducked into the hiding spot and grabbed my hand. "Come on, Pini!"

"Pini?" Xen asks, suddenly very, very afraid. "Lilly! Get away from her!" Xen grabs Lilly forcefully and drags her out of the hiding spot, with me attached.

"Hi." I choke out in a small voice as he drops me to the ground. I close my eyes and wrap my wings around myself. I feel so... Sad. So hopeless. He will never.... Like me? Why do I want him to like me?

"Hello?" He asks me with a confused glare.

"I've never seen a demon do that before. Why?" Xen points out.

"She is not a demon! She is an angel!" Lilly pouts beside him.

"I was going to hunt you." Pini chokes out, tears falling down her face. Why am I telling him this? "But then I found Lilly and then you and I just can't-" I stop myself. He doesn't need to know any more.

"I... Have to go." I stand up and lift my wings, preparing to take off. I lift off the ground with a few pushes, and once I'm out of sight, I let the tears rain down my face like raindrops and don't bother to wash them off when I approach the portal back to my world.
