Chapter Seven

"Are you serious Nam? I just learned to dance and I'm still not great at it." I tried to smooth out the giant poofs that made up the skirt of my dress as I tried to take a deep breath. "I can't even breath right." I added taking my free hand and rubbing it as the corset top that was suffocating me from the chest down to my hip bones.

"Well I think it's cute, the bright blue brings out the color of your eyes. But I guess I didn't take into account that you can't dance very well..." She sighed and started shifting through the clothes in my closet again.

"Does the dress have to match something for the ball? Tradition or theme or anything?"

"No, not really, I mean this type of dress is from a different kingdom, so tradition isn't really in it. I just wanted to make you beautiful. I mean not everyone gets to have a night like this."

"You mean meeting their future husband when they still have a life to live?"

"You know that's not what he's trying to do. Besides it's not like he's making you get married right away. He just wants you to meet all of them and get a chance to meet them."

"I know."

"Oh how about this one?" She held out a deep scarlet red mermaid dress. Looking further at it I cringed. It looked so familiar and the longer I stared at it the more scared I got. That's when I realized it was a dress from some of my dreams. "Or not, I guess it wouldn't work well with moving your legs anyways, to narrow at the ankles."

"Y-yeah." I tried to hide my emotions as she shoved it back.

"Maybe you should look for one? You would know what you'd be more comfortable in anyways." She stepped back and I shook everything out of my mind, focusing on finding a dress. "Are you okay? You seem a little tense."

"Yeah, just nervous." I sighed, I wanted to tell her the truth about what just happened but I was scared that I might loose a friend. I know my dad said I could trust her but what if she decides to be afraid of me?

"Everything will be okay. You have people in your life now that would do anything to protect you and I'm sure that tonight you'll meet one who would do anything and everything for you."

"You're right. I'll try to ease up and enjoy tonight." I smiled,"Oh how about this one?" I pulled out a small (Fav color)dress that had a little frilly bottom that would open up just a little when I spun. The top part had a short v-neck and two thin straps to hold it up. It reached just above my knees and left plenty of room for dancing comfortably but also allowed me to look'elegant', or so that's what Namine was saying as I held it out for her to examine.

"Now, your running out of time, get changed."

"Help me get this one off first?" I pointed to the tie in the back that she had yanked as tight as she could.

"Oh, right... Sorry."

She had already done my hair up in an elegant bun with little braids going through it and she had also added a little eyeliner and made a gray smokey eye that fit any type of dress we would have chosen as well as let my (Eye color)  eyes pop out more.
