There once was a perfect family. Janice met David Day and they fell in love, and soon after got married. They settled down in a cute little bungalow in Kissimmee, Florida and shortly after welcomed fraternal twins. Brittany and Sean. Brittany and Sean were best friends, always by each others sides, building forts in the living room, swimming and in their underground pool, riding tricycles and alternated games. Sean would have a turn to chose a game to play then Brittany. When it was Sean's turn to chose they'd play with army men and when it was Brittany's they'd play with Barbies. When the twins were one, the Day's bought a kitten- Gina. When the twins were two, Janice and David made the announcement that they were expecting, nine months later came Melissa, who would grow up to be the most popular girl in school. Melissa looked like a carbon copy of Brittany- they both had wavy blonde hair, with deep blue eyes and a slim figure. Life like this carried on for a while, your typical perfect family until things started to change- and not for the best. The family started to notice that Sean was acting different, but of course they brushed it off like it was no big deal. It all started when Sean broke up with his girlfriend Alicia. At first he went through tiny episodes when he would be sad and depressed. One day he's be happy, hanging out with friends, doing his school work and then the next moment, he would lock himself up in his room and not speak to anyone. It was like he was bipolar. So, they got him some antidepressants and he got better, his pills were working, and things were back to normal, for a while at least. Then came the accidents. He accidently would hit Melissa and accidently push Brittany- nothing too extreme. You think that was it? Nope, there's still more. He would accidently hurt people and this time it was getting to be dangerous. The day that Janice walked in on Sean chocking Brittany and sitting on top of Melissa, repeatedly hitting her was the straw that broke the camel's back. The doctors suggested getting him tested and it came out that he had a mental illness. At first, the Day's accepted the challenge of raising a son with a mental illness and got him his meds. The problem is, they didn't work. He'd still be violent towards his sisters and would sometimes pretend that he was other people. It was getting weird, and then to everyone's surprise it got better. It was finally over. But boy were they wrong. Everything went downhill fast. Sean, one day after school, when his parents were still at work told Brittany and Melissa that he had a surprise for them and it was waiting in their tree house. The girls, of course, believed him. And why wouldn't they? He was better after all. Well, they were wrong, because before they knew it Sean had pulled a gun on them, a gun he had stolen from their dad's hunting shed. Thank god their parents came home just in time and before he knew it Sean was being sent off to a mental preserve called the Orange Orchid Preserve and he was only in grade eight.

Only a couple months after being sent off, Mr. Day got a promotion and the family had to immediately move to London, England. They thought of transferring Sean to a preserve in London but the doctors suggested to leave him there, the move could cause some anxiety which could cause him to act out and besides he was supposedly doing better.

In London, Melissa thought it was fabulous, the shopping, the food and especially the boys. There, she had a best friend- Robyn Denarii and a boyfriend- Matthew Smart, life was good, she was popular and was a natural at tennis. Sporty and popular. It was only good for a while though. They hadn't told anyone about Sean and when they saw his ex Alicia, whose dad got promoted and moved to London as well, she started asking questions, like where was Sean, they'd all told her different stories- he was living with their grandma in Tennessee or he'd gone off to boarding school or he'd stayed in Kissimmee with a family friend. Alicia didn't believe any of them, so they'd panicked and went with their last resort- they got the hell out of there.

They'd made their final move, but this time to an upscale part of Denver, Colorado. Melissa was only in grade eight. Although it wasn't as glamorous as London, the town of Mapleday was where she had the most luck. She was instantly popular, she now just needed a clique. Out of all of the girls of the entire school only Drew Essex-Cooke, Palmer Jones, Harper Chamberlain and Maddie Monty stood out. They were all so nice and sweet and different, but the reason that Melissa loved them the most was because they adored her, they bowed down to her and that they'd do anything for her.

Drew was the artsy one, the unique one, and out of all of the way too perfect houses. Drew's was her favourite. Her house was cozy and warm, the antique rugs, the dark paneled walls, and the odd landscape, with the narrow backyard made her feel at home.

Palmer was the pretty one as you'd say- almost as pretty as Melissa, she had a great sense of style, the only thing that Melissa would change was her obsession with astrology. She based every single little thing that she was going to do on horoscopes and how the stars aligned.

Harper was the smart one, what she considered to be a fail would be a B plus, which is what Melissa considered to be an accomplishment. It wasn't Harper's fault though, she grew up in a competitive household, her dad is the CEO of a mega corporation, her mom is a famous magazine journalist and her sister Ashley got early admission to Harvard University.

Last but not least, you have Maddie, the jock. A natural soccer superstar. She did soccer six days a week and works hard at it. Her dream is to become pro. Maddie is also the quietest one. She knows when to speak up and when to keep her mouth shut, which is what Melissa loves about her.

The thing that tops all of the reasons on why she's best friends with them is that they were bitches. And they were her bitches.
