"What about these?" Drew asked while holding up a pair of coin earrings.

"Put those down, Drew, their tacky" Melissa scolded.

Melissa noted the look of disappointment on Drew's face, but she did as she was told.

The two girls were shopping at Maplewood Day Mall, and were in the newest designer boutique called Chic. Chic had so far been a good place, everything was glamorous and stylish except for the earrings that Drew had found.

"Common, lets go to Guess, I need a new pair of skinny jeans" Melissa said, tugging Drew's arm.

Melissa and Drew had been on the hunt for hot new clothes, not that Melissa needed it, she could wear anything and still look amazing. Today, she wore cute skinny jeans and a light blue see through top, but of course she had a tank top on underneath. Drew on the other hand was sporting a very unique style. She had on clunky wedges, light flare jeans and a yellow tank top that made her boobs look bigger. She also had a pink feather in her hair. Drew tried to convince the girls to get one too, and all of them were excited about them too, until Melissa said she wouldn't get one, it would be lame, so the other girls as the followers and Melissa as their leader, they didn't... except for Drew, which was unusual.

Melissa and Drew made their way to Guess and Melissa picked out a couple of jeans. She modeled them, and Drew complimented her in every single pair she tried on.

The girls were making their way to Charlotte Rousse, when Drew's phone chimed, Drew then said goodbye to Melissa because she had to go to a family lunch. Not wanting to be alone at the mall, Melissa sent a text to Brittany asking for a ride.

Melissa waited at the side of the mall as she saw her sister's car pull in.

"Thanks for the ride, Brittany"

"Whatever" Brittany said as she lit a cigarette.

"You smoke?" Melissa asked, not too surprised that her sister did.

Her sister sighed, and looked to Melissa with an annoyed expression on her face. "Yes, Melissa, I do"

"Could I have one?"

"No, cigarettes are expensive" Brittany said, grabbing the pack away.

"Fine. But I don't think mom and dad will like that you smoke" Melissa said.

Brittany shot her and oh-no-you-wouldn't look.

Oh yeah, I played that card Melissa thought.

"You little bitch, always have to get it your way" Brittany said, but handed her one anyway.

"Yes, yes I am" Melissa said, happy with herself, and took a long drag of smoke.

The Day's sat at a table in Farfalle's, a fabulous Italian restaurant just a few blocks away from where the Day's live.

Melissa twirled her fettuccini alfredo onto her fork and only got in one bite when her mom asked the girls to put their forks down.

"So, girls, the preserve called us today to tell us that Sean is doing better. His pills have started to kick in and he's showing less violence." Mrs. Day took a breath before continuing, "and his doctors think it would be nice if we gave him a visit." Mrs. Day finished and looked at the girls for a response.

"No" Brittany said, "I won't visit him"

"Me neither, I don't want to be reminded of those horrible years" Melissa said firmly.

"Girls, he's your brother" Mr. Day said horrifically.

"He's crazy" Brittany pointed out.

"That's enough." Mrs. Day said calmly, keeping her voice low.

"When are we going?" Melissa asked.

"Next week, and only for 4 days" Mr. Day said.

"I can't. I have exams" Brittany said quickly and in relief.

"Already? It's only May." Mrs. Day said skeptically.

"Exams start in May"

"Fine. Brittany, you don't have to go." Mr. Day said.

"If she doesn't have to go, then I don't either" Melissa said coolly.

"No Melissa, you will be going, and that's final." Mrs. Day decided.

"That's not fair!" Melissa shouted standing up, not caring that she was in a restaurant.

"Sit down, and don't be such a child!" Mr. Day shouted back.

At that moment, Melissa couldn't handle anymore drama. She stayed standing and after stormed out of the restaurant. Tears started to well in her eyes, but she quickly sucked them back. No. Melissa Day does not cry. No matter what.

She pulled out her phone and sent a text to Harper.

Wanna hang out?

Harper texted back a few seconds later.

Can't Melissa. You know we have a history final on Monday.

Melissa sighed in frustration. She knew Palmer couldn't, she was babysitting and Maddie always had soccer practice on Saturday nights, that left Drew.

Can you hang out? Pls say yes.

Melissa hit send and prayed that Drew could. She was in a serious need of a pick me up.

Sorry can't I have to clean my room

Yeah, right. Drew's room was always so neat and tidy. Having no one she started walking home, but on the way she heard a high-pitched giggle coming from behind Sweet Frog, a frozen yogurt parlor. Having nothing better to do, Melissa decided to investigate.

There were two people behind it, who were making out. A boy and a girl. Her mouth dropped open once she realized who the girl was. Drew. Drew had lied right to Melissa's face. That bitch.
