Chapter one

I love the smells of spring. Spring is truly my favorite season. I mean what's not to love? There's all the blooming flowers, sun, fresh grass and the calls of the little creatures.

I was taking a perimeter check with my two best friends: Scarlett and Summer. We are just three of the 200 members of Moonstone Pack. There are about 13 different packs with all different rankings.

We happen to be one of the top three strongest packs in America. We strive to be the best of the best. However, it doesn't come easy. Everyone starts at 16, when they transform for the first time (and sometimes earlier) and start training. Everyone goes through at least the basic self defense and fighting techniques.

Then we have the different classes. The alpha which is my dad, the beta, and third in command. They usually deal with all the what you would call 'government' work portion of it. We have our fighting force which go through tough training for years on years, and get touch-ups with how techniques change.

It's not that hard to follow after you understand the rankings.

Scarlett is the daughter of my dads Beta. She is my height and age. She also has long straight brown hair, tanned skin, and deep brown eyes. Her wolf, however, is slightly smaller one than mine due to my alpha bloodline. Scarlett's wolf has a dark brown almost black coat with her brown eyes staying the same.

Summer, on the other hand, is a wolf our age in the fighting force. Her human form is about an inch or two taller than Scarlett and I, however her wolf is about the same height as Scarlett's, just a tad bit more muscular. She has medium length blonde hair with beautiful piercing blue eyes. Her wolf has a white coat with the same blue eyes.

I am the tallest of us three. My human form has fair skin, long brown hair which is wavy. My eyes, however, show my alpha power the best. They are the brightest grey with a touch of light blue mixed within. That only runs in the alpha bloodline of our pack.

 Okay, back to being on track.

Well tomorrow is the day we all go back to school, signaling the end of spring break. My dad thinks it's a good idea to keep us with the humans, such as going through the schooling system: elementary, middle, and high school. It apparently will keep the humans from discovering our secret.

We decided to stop at the lake that was back in the woods. We weren't all that far now from being back to where we began our run. We covered most of the land in about a half hour and it's now going on 11am. We had found wolf tracks and they belonged to the Quileute Pack.

We all shifted back to our human forms and put on our clothes which we stored in our packs we carry. 

Scarlett spoke first, "So why do you think Connor and some of his men are here?" We all sat at the edge of the lake dipping our feet in.

"I don't really know... I mean, my dad hasn't mentioned any trouble or anything" I answered. I pondered what he could be doing. "Maybe its just to talk and keep up the alliance..." I added.

"Has he found his mate yet?" Summer had added in.

"I don't believe so" I instantly thought of him. Most girls drool over him, it is quite funny to watch. He is about 6'2, has brown flippy hair. He also has royal blue eyes and he is VERY muscular/toned. I don't blame the girls that drool, I just have more self-control. That and he isn't my mate.

He is a newer alpha and basically one of the hottest bachelors, everyone deeply envy's his mate (that he obviously hasn't found). His pack is more laid-back and a little lower on the rankings cause of that but they are still tough opponents, don't get me wrong.

'Sky, I need to speak with you, don't worry you aren't in any trouble' my dad had spoken to me through the mind link.

"Guys we need to be heading back, my dad needs to speak to me about some pack thing" I had stated. Scarlett and Summer had nodded then we all got up and decided to just take a light jog in our human forms back.
