Kurogane and Koi sat, back to back each doing their own respective activity before the others awoke. It was quiet and for that Kurogane was grateful as he went about cleaning his sword and inspecting the sharpness of the blade.

Koi was reading a book, they were finally in a world where the language was close enough to her own native language that she could read.

As Kurogane cleaned his sword he reflected on the eerily quiet woman behind him.

It was clear she wasn't human - not fully, though she wouldn't say what she was exactly and that bothered Kurogane. Kurogane had also learned that Koi should not ever see blood in and of itself, if ther was a great amount (such as the first time) even the scent of it could drive her over the edge and she'd lose control again.

It had become common now before a fight that Koi would place a blindfold over her eyes to help prevent this (though when she battled it almost seemed as if she had been driven over the edge anyways).

Then there were times, like now, where she seemed to have her lucid moments out of the insanity that permeated her mind. Honestly, Kurogane preferred these moments, when they could actually get along with one another. They were few and far between, though....

Koi huffed behind him, breaking his train of thought.

A weight on his back told him she had chosen to hug him again, rubbing her cheek against his affectionately. "Koi is bored~"

"I don't care!" snapped Kurogane automatically.

Well, one thing was for sure. If he ever did make it back to his home, as he had first started out to do, things wouldn't be the same without Koi around....
