The halls are sparkling clean, to the point that Katy has to wonder just how much time the janitors spend cleaning. And what type of products they use.
Katy's train of thought gets interrupted when she picks up on the faint click-clack of heels on the tile floors. Every fiber of her body tenses in preparation for any situation, only to have her forcably relax.
'This is a high school for spoiled brats. Don't make it obvious to these guys that you're more than your file says.' She chastises herself sternly as she watches the corner where she hears the steps.
After a moment more, a teenager turns the corner and Katy catagorizes them as one of the mid-range rich kids. Subconsciously, she attempts to gauge combat prowess with a quick glance, only for her subconscious, military-oriantated brain to mildly malfunction.
The teenager in question is a pretty girl with matching purple hair and purple heels. Surprisingly, to Katy at least, the rest of the girls outfit is nuetral, a simple black pencil skirt and tan blouse.
The Headmaster lets out a small huff as the girl approaches, "Miss Newton, you are twenty minutes late."
The girl waves dismissively, clearly not caring much about being late, "I got caught up on a conversation. But I'm here now, so I'll show her around the dorms."
Katy walks over to stand next to the girl, not casting the Headmaster another glance, which she's sure he's used too, and greets the girl with a nod.
The two walk off down the hall, leaving the Headmaster behind, and there's an almost bored silence between them. Katy continues cataloguing her surroundings, noting where each camera is and the blind spots.
'Note to self, map the camera angles out'
"So, this is the dorms. Bathrooms are communal unless your parents pay extra for personal suits. Not that yours did." The girl says, blowing a bubble with her gum as she lazily scans Katy, gauging her worth by appearance. "Just call me 'Miss Newton' like the teachers do, cause we're not close"
Deep down, Katy finds this entertaining, even though it's an attempt to "show her her place" in the hierarchy of the schools dorms. After all, she's said something similar to all the new platoons she's trained.
But she just shrugs in response, which she can tell annoys 'Miss Newton' quite a bit, even though she tries to hide it. Silence falls between the two again, now filled with the annoying sound of the other girl chewing her gum obscenely loud. A very mature way to express her dissatisfaction at Katy's lack of reaction to her diss.
The rest of the "tour" is mostly 'Miss Newton' pointing out different utilities with clipped words and underhanded insults that Katy completely ignores. Finally, 'Miss Newton's' friends show up, giggling at Katy's appearance.
"Oh my gawd, that sweater is so last season!" One of the girls exclaims, at which all the girls nod in agreement, "Geez, Sunny, why are you playing charity?"
'Sunny, huh? Her name is the utter opposite of her attitude. Ironic.' Katy thinks to herself, a snicker almost escaping her lips at how Sunny's friends are gawking at her for all the wrong reasons.
"Because it'll get me a grade boost on the test coming up." Sunny explains, popping another gum bubble with a bored expression. "I just gotta show the girl her room then I'll join you in the courtyard, 'kay?"
"Wait, wait, Sunny. Is she getting..." The girls voice drops to a whisper as she leans close to Sunny, "That room?"
Katy's ears perk, her interest piqued by the whispering. It's not like the girl is trying to keep Katy from hearing, after all.
Sunny breaks out in a wide and almost devious grin, "You bet your ass she is."
All of Sunny's friends burst into laughter and start walking off towards the courtyard, while Sunny turns to Katy, a mocking smile now in place of her grin, "Sorry, don't mind them."
Katy grunts in response, feigning disinterest and inspecting her nails as if she doesn't have a care in the world. But in reality, she's very fascinated by watching the teens interact with each other. 'Damn,' she thinks, a slight frown tugging at the corners of her lips, 'That thought makes me feel old.'
As Sunny leads her in the opposite direction that her friends had gone, the girl can hardly keep the smirk off her face.
Minutes later, her and Katy come to a stop in front of a janitors closet, Sunny's smirk only getting bigger. Katy frowns in faux confusion, since she's already figured it out.
"This," Sunny opens the door to the small closet which is mostly taken up by the mattress that's been shoved in, "Is your dorm room!"
Katy lets her jaw drop and gasps, as if she's been insulted, before turning to Sunny with a glare.
"Excuse me!? This is not the room my parents arranged for me! Take me there right now!"
Sunny just cackles and walks off the way they'd came, "This is what intitled little poor girls get for thinking they're all that!"
Katy forces a splutter of disbelief as Sunny walks out of earshot, before she relaxes and let's out a chuckle to herself, "Damn, the files weren't kidding, they found a hazing that doesn't break a single rule. I'll give them that much."
She turns back to examine the closet, a smile tugging at her lips, "Maybe this won't be too much of an annoying job"
With a snicker and a shake of her head, she steps into the closet and closes the door behind her. Darkness envelopes her and she welcomes it with open arms, a quiet sigh slipping from her lips. Once her eyes adjust, she can see that the closet is actually bigger that what you can see from the doorway, the small room extending a further seven or eight feet to the side but a shelf has been positioned to block that area. Probably because the janitors wanted to prevent students from using the closet to get spicy.
"Y'know, this is perfect." Katy says to herself, her eyes twinkling in the darkness.
