Déjà vu

Noun.

"The feeling of having already experienced the present situation"

Déjà vu was the exact word to describe the situation I was experiencing.

For the third day in a row, the stair case was closed.

Again. Instead of getting knocked over by some senior jock who looked like he had overdosed on steroids, my locker wouldn't close.

"Ergh" I groaned slamming my whole body into the beat up locker door.

"It's almost a coincidence seeing you here again" Hayes leans his shoulder up against the tiled wall.

I almost respond but the thought of yesterday came back to keep me shushed.

"No cocky comeback? Nice" he nods his stupid head making his stupid perfect hair shake a bit.

A glare stays plastered on my face as I ram into the locker again only to have it bounce back open.

"Ya know it's kind of hard to close a locker when there's papers everywhere sticking out" he nods toward the array of crumpled papers and the strap of my backpack jutted out into the hallway.

I kick everything in making the locker close much smoother now.

"What would you do without me" a proud smile comes across his face.

God, that smile was breathtaking. And that smile just so happened to be wanted by a pink Barbie looking bitch named Jessica.

I avert my gaze and immediately start walking down the hallway away from this god damn boy.

"Hey! What's wrong? No sarcastic comment, no great-fullness of my help. Something's wrong" he grabs onto my arm almost making me melt.

There was no possible way I could have feelings for Hayes, he wasn't my type, and was very much Jessica's.

"Um, I - I gotta get to class" I pull my arm out of his grasp quickly making my way down the hall.

"You're late again, Ms. St. Clare" my teacher doesn't make any eye contact whatsoever.

"Yeah, I know. My locker-"

"Save your excuses for detention" he interrupts still not making eye contact.

The teachers cheeks turn bright red from behind the book, he was always so nervous when yelling at students for some reason that no one could explain.

I let out an annoyed breath followed by am eye roll as I make my way to my seat.

"Do I need to assign another detention, Ms. St. Clare" he finally takes off his reading glasses revealing his dark brown eyes contrasted by the deep bags under them.

"No, sir" I answer with a fake smile that I happened to do more often then I realized.

"That's what I thought" he mumbles, placing the glasses back on the tip of his ginormous nose.

"Funny seeing you here" Hayes enters the room in which I had never been in before.

I'm guessing he's had the complete opposite experience in here.

I meet his eyes which are the same icy blue from yesterday making him look angrier then he was acting.

"Mr. Grier, take a seat. Now" the lanky women points a long finger at the vacant seat next to me.

"Gladly" Hayes shoots back with a presumptuous smirk.

I almost giggle along with one or two other people but the same nagging memory keeps me quiet.

"While you delinquents sit here and do nothing, I'll be organizing my collection of encyclopedias in my room" the teacher becomes giddy before practically skipping out of the classroom.

"So," Hayes turns to me, "what brings you here?" He asks, his eyes gleaming with a sliver of joy from the joke to the teacher.

Fuck it. I'll talk to him if I want too, no blonde bimbo is going to hold me back from merely talking to someone that clearly has no interest in me whatsoever.

"I-"

"Hayes!" An all too familiar squeaky voice grows closer.

I'm almost blinded by Jessica's overload on pink accessories making her resemble a child with too many hair bows and purses.

"Hey Jessica" he responds unenthusiastically as his eyes droop in boredom.

"Um.." She turns to me acting like she cared what my name was.

"Savannah" I play along slowly nodding my head.

"Yeah" she drags the word out probably mentally pulling her hair out listening to me talk.

"So Hayes," she bumps into the seat knocking me off, "what do you think of going to a party on Friday with me" her voice is a little enthusiastic.

I contently sit down in the seat behind her being amused by Hayes' bored facial expression.

"I didn't think about it" he shrugs leaning his elbow on the desk then resting his chin on the palm of his hand.

"Well," her fake pleading eyes come out, "you wouldn't want me going alone, right" she folds her hands together, sticking her bottom lip out.

"I guess not" Hayes shrugs again.

"Great!" She stands up to kiss him on the cheek "See you on Friday!" She squeals before skipping out like the un-proportionate teacher had earlier.

Hayes turns his body to me, "you're going to the party" he says it as more of a demand then a question.

"I'm not a party person" I shift awkwardly in the awfully uncomfortable chair.

"Looks like we're going to have to change that" another smirk, that he happens to do all the time, appears on his face.

"But-"

"No buts. You're going. I can't be stuck with preppy patty who doesn't seem to know that more is not less" he says widening his eyes at the explanation of Jessica.

Should I be the one to tell him she's trying to win him back?

Considering how easy he gave in to her 'invite', it'll be no time until they'll be back together. There's no point in ruining their reunion right? As long as he's happy, I guess..
