Probably The Chillest Crashout Of My Life

Okay, I get it. I don't think you want to hear about the fuck-ass stone knights again. Which is perfect, because I don't want to talk about the fuck-ass, bitch-ass, broke-ass, probably-would-cheat-on-yo-ass stone knights again. As you can see, I am a very unbiased about this situation, so I'll accept the liberty of breaking it down for you.

1. I had a mini crashout upon seeing the stone knights.

2. Stone knights attacked immediately.

3. I think I accidentally invented a new spell that launches Buldak ramen noodles at attackers (surprisingly efficient).

4. Stone knights are down.

That's all you need to know.

Let's bring it back in to current time. I pass the fallen knights, dragging my feet from exhaustion and seriously rethinking my life choices. Past the second archway is---you guessed it---another room. Here is an ethereal, cathedral-like chamber, bathed in cool, ambient light that filters through towering opaque mirrors. Each mirror is a portal of swirling blue and golden energy, casting a mystical glow on the intricately-carved stone walls that resemble ancient tree roots wrapping around the structure. The floor glistens like dark glass. Bioluminescent hues ripple around me, giving this place an almost otherworldly serenity, as if this place lies on the boundary between realms—both sacred and secret. Standing in the centre, dwarfed by the immense space, I feel small and awestruck. Where am I?

All of a sudden,  the opaque clouds in the mirrors begin to shift, revealing a simple, domestic background in each of them. A tall man with a long, white beard steps into the framing of the third mirror, hands clasped before him, scrutinizing gaze trained on me. Professor Rackham.

"Can it be?" he whispers, his voice echoing throughout the room.

"It's you." I take a step closer, my eyes wide with wonder.

"Has someone finally found our Map Chamber?" he continues, almost speaking to himself rather than to me.

"I know you," I say, my voice louder this time, drawing his attention. "You're Professor Rackham, from the Pensieves."

"I am indeed," he confirms with a humble nod. "I must confess my surprise upon seeing someone so young standing before me."

"I'm the same age you and Isadora were when you started at Hogwarts," I say, slightly defensive.

He smiles. "Someone has been paying attention. And might I assume you share our...ability?"

"Seeing ancient magic?" I query. He confirms with a nod. "Yes, sir, I do."

"And how do you feel about this?"

I think for a moment. "Confused. Lost. A little scared, but honoured." Who am I kidding, I feel like I've been losing my mind lately. But I'm not saying that out loud to anyone.

"All natural emotions to experience," he reassures me. "As you have likely learned by now, our ability gives us a unique relationship with all forms of magic. It is overwhelming, yes, but opportunities will arise for you to sharpen yours with time."

"Thank you, sir."

"We have much to discuss," he says. "But first: a map you found in a book led you here, yes? Please place the book on that pedestal."

Oh. "Yes, of course," I bullshit. Because what do you mean I didn't connect the dots with the map leading to here and what do you mean that I got here purely on vibes, spite, and misplaced survival instincts? "Actually, uh, I didn't exactly bring...the book...?" I say hesitantly.

"Really?" He raises a questioning eyebrow. "How did you get here, then?"

"I...memorized the map. It was very intriguing," I bullshit. Again.

"Impressive," he remarks. "Well, it is unfortunate that you do not have the book with you. I'm afraid we'll have to continue our conversation another time, when you have the book."

Talk about letdown of the century. At this point, I can't even be mad anymore. I just want my bed. I want to read, and bake in the kitchens, and sleep, and talk to Sebastian or Ginny or Garreth or Kylie or even freaking Draco.

Actually, scratch that. Draco is scary. I'll only approach him if he's with Kylie because with someone like him? We need balance.

"So I need to come back here?" I ask, trying to hide my internal crashout in my voice.

"Yes, if you can."

"No problem." I smile, far too brightly. "I can do that."

"Marvelous. I will see you soon." With that said, bro vanishes from his mirror, the same foggy blue-gold filling all four of them just like before.
