Author's POV
Years had passed since the war ended, and life in the kingdom had slowly found its rhythm. The war had become a distant memory, etched into the pages of history, but the people still revered Alec and Cassie as their rulers-wise, strong, and deeply in love.
Their bond had only deepened with time, and though the crown came with endless responsibilities, their days were brighter now-filled with stolen glances, quiet laughter, and moments that reminded them of the love they had fought so fiercely to protect.

One afternoon, in the royal chambers...
Cassie sat at her desk, sunlight streaming through the tall windows, papers scattered in a chaos only she could make sense of. She was poring over finances, diplomatic reports, and handwritten letters from village leaders. Her brow was furrowed in focus, a quill tapping softly against her lower lip.
Before she could sign another document, a pair of familiar arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her gently into a warm, comforting embrace.
"Need help?" Alec murmured, his breath a whisper against her ear.
Cassie didn't even have to turn around to smile. "If you can make all these endless requests disappear with a snap of your fingers, then yes. Very much, yes."
"Hmm..." Alec grinned, his lips grazing her ear. "I can make things disappear, but my methods usually involve the two of us... alone... and very far away from paperwork."
Cassie turned in his arms, giving him a look that was half fond exasperation, half amusement. "Tempting. But we both know we can't afford another day off. The kingdom would riot."
"That's why I'm suggesting a brief kidnapping," Alec said, lifting her effortlessly into his arms before she could protest.
"Alec!" she laughed, swatting at his chest as she squirmed. "You can't just whisk me away in the middle of a workday."
"Says the queen I'm currently kidnapping," he winked. "Come on, Cass. Ten minutes. Maybe twenty. An impromptu vacation."
Cassie sighed dramatically, leaning her head against his shoulder. "You're lucky I adore you."
"I know," he grinned. "And I plan to cash in on that luck for the rest of our lives."

A few months later, in the royal nursery...
The soft cry of their newborn echoed down the marble corridors. Cassie, her steps quiet and practiced now, entered the nursery with a tired but tender smile.
Alec was already there, standing beside the crib, his usually confident expression replaced by something softer-wonder, awe... and a little helplessness.
"She finally slept," he whispered. "For five whole minutes. A personal record."
Wrapped in pastel blankets was their daughter-tiny, pink-cheeked, and perfect. Her curls already wild like Alec's, and her eyes-curious and unblinking-were undeniably Cassie's.
"She's magic," Cassie said softly, brushing a fingertip along her baby's cheek. "And she's already got us wrapped around her little finger."
Alec chuckled, tucking a stray curl behind Cassie's ear. "She's going to rule this castle before she can walk."
"I don't doubt it," Cassie smirked. "She's a perfect blend of us. But don't worry-she'll have my patience."
Alec raised an eyebrow. "You mean my patience."
Cassie laughed, leaning into his side. "Let's agree she gets our best parts."
Alec kissed her temple. "That sounds fair. Though she'll definitely inherit your stubbornness."
Cassie pretended to gasp. "Excuse me, Your Majesty, I believe that stubbornness came from you."
The baby stirred, letting out a squeaky sigh as if joining in on the argument. They both smiled, hearts full.
In that quiet moment, the weight of the crown, the legacy of war, the endless demands of their titles-it all faded. Here, they were just Alec and Cassie. Husband and wife. Mom and Dad. And nothing had ever felt more right.

Later that evening, in the royal gardens...
The stars glittered above them like scattered diamonds, and the gentle hush of the night wrapped around them like a lullaby.
Cassie and Alec strolled hand in hand along the flower-lined paths, the scent of blooming roses and soft earth grounding them in a moment that felt like a dream.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to being queen," Cassie said, her voice hushed, thoughtful. "But... with you by my side, I think I'm finally okay."
Alec stopped, gently tilting her chin to look into her eyes. "You don't need to get used to it. You are a queen, Cassie. With or without the crown. And I'm not going anywhere."
Cassie's eyes shimmered. "You always say the right thing."
Alec grinned. "I've had some practice."
They kissed under the stars-slow, steady, and full of everything unspoken between them.

The Final Scene
The kingdom flourished.
Under Cassie and Alec's reign, peace wasn't just an idea-it was a reality. Fields grew golden and full, children laughed in village streets, and wolves and humans alike found harmony. Their love became a legend. A tale mothers told their children at bedtime. A story etched into the stones of the castle and the hearts of those who lived beneath its shadow.
Their family grew-little feet pitter-pattering through the halls, sleepy cuddles by the fire, shared stories beneath starlit skies.
And one quiet evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, they stood together on the balcony, overlooking the home they had built-together.
Cassie rested her head on Alec's shoulder. "We did good, didn't we?"
Alec looked down at her, his heart full. "We did more than good, love. We built a future. A family. A legacy."
Cassie's eyes sparkled. "And we're just getting started."
He smiled, brushing a kiss across her forehead. "With you? Always."
And so, with laughter in their hearts and love in their bones, they faced whatever came next-side by side.
Not just as rulers.
Not just as warriors.
But as soulmates.

Thank you for joining Cassie and Alec on this journey-from war-torn paths to moonlit balconies, from fierce battles to lullabies in the nursery.
Their story may have found its peace, but I hope a piece of it stays with you. In your heart. In your dreams. In the quiet moments where love feels like magic and magic feels like home.
Until next time,
Izzy 🤍
