Chapter 9

It was showtime. I was below the stage in the elevator floor box. The manager gave me a microphone and asked if I was ready. "Yeah. A little nervous though," I told him. "You have nothing to worry about," Mr. Harris said. I nodded and heard the announcer start to talk. "Welcome to the show. Before Before You Exit comes out we have a new performer," they said. The rest of it was blocked out by the screams. "Where's Skyler?" I heard Toby ask. 'Awwww he cares about me' I thought. "Please welcome Skyler Hale," the announcer said and the elevator box started to rise. I slowly stood up as the box got halfway through the hole. The music to the second track on my album was playing and I started singing the lyrics. I looked out into the crowd and the whole theater was packed. There had to be over a thousand people there. The screams got louder and louder as the song went on. The fans were waving their glow sticks and cell phones around to the beat of the song. "Whoooooo!!!!! Skyler!!!!!" I heard my friends yell. I looked off stage and saw them standing there. I noticed Toby's jaw was dropped. I waved at him and he smiled a bit. I smiled back and continued on with my song. The fans were chanting my name and it was the best thing ever. I finished and ran backstage. My friends pulled me into a hug. "You were great!" Ramsey exclaimed bouncing up and down. "You were.....woah," Toby said still shocked. I laughed and hugged him as tight as I could. He hugged me back and the announcers called their band. Toby wouldn't let go. "Toby?" I said trying to pull back. "What?" he said pulling me closer and hugging me tighter. "It's showtime," I said hugging him back as tight as I could. "Oh," he said sounding disappointed and letting me go. I let him go and gave him his guitar. He took it and I watched him run out onto the stage. Damn, he was so cute.
