~Kaysie's P.O.V.~
I grabbed the rifle from the nearest body and began shooting blindly at the heads of the walkers coming towards us. I took the dagger out of my belt and whistled to get Carl's attention, throwing it to him. I heard the cracking of bone as Carl began punching the dagger into the skulls of the walkers surrounding us. It was too much for us, they just kept coming. We hadn't killed half of them and I was already drenched in all kinds of body fluids.
"There's no way we're getting outta this alive." Carl yelled. We were back to back and I felt his hand grab mine, he squeezed it.
"Im not going out this way, Carl. You know that." I screamed back. It was difficult to hear anything we were saying over the moans and groans of the walkers. I grabbed a second rifle and shot two guns at once. I turned my head to the right as a walker, eyes drooping out of their sockets and skull chipping away, was grabbing my arm. I tried to kick it away while firing in front of me, but the damn thing just kept stumbling on top of me. It opened it's mouth over my forearm and I winced, readying myself for what was to come. It's teeth were centimeters away from my flesh when an arrow hit it in the back of the head. It dropped to the ground near my feet, and I looked up at Carl. He didn't have a bow on him, which meant that there was someone else here too. More and more walkers were being hit with arrows, and soon, Carl and I took out the last three. I wiped sweat off my forehead, and looked down at an arrow lodged in the face of an old woman. I recognized the mark on the arrow immediately.
"Were dead." I groaned as I turned around to face who had shot the arrows.
"What the fuck were you two thinking?" Daryl shouted, although his words were directed towards both of us, he looked straight at me.
"We weren't the ones attracting the walkers, Daryl. These dumbasses," I kicked the shoe of one of the men, "Were the ones shootin."
"They were shooting at you?" Daryl asked, raising a brow.
Carl stepped in before I could reply, "They looked dangerous, and we didn't want to take any chances, so we shot them with her bow, and one of em started shooting back. That's what attracted the geeks, were his shots."
Daryl shook his head angrily and pointed his finger at us, "Y'all know better than to be out here alone so close to dark." I tried to cut in but he pointed his finger at Carl and kept talking, "I trusted you with Kaysie's life, and now you walk with her alone in the woods close to dark? You know how fuckin dangerous that is? I wouldnt be surprised if-"
I had had enough of Daryl's badgering, I walked up to him and punched him the the side of the face. He stumbled backwards, and clutched his jaw, giving me a death glare in the process. I forgot that I had the family ring on my middle finger, and on his cheek was the indentation of a backwards "D".
"The minute you put my life in someone else's hands, is the minute I lose some respect for you. You know that I can take care of myself, Daryl. I was on my own for a whole month, after shit hit the fan, and I was twelve then. I'm sixteen now and I can take care of my damn self just as good as I did four years ago." I grabbed Carl and yanked his hand as I turned around, walking back to the wall. Since Daryl knew we were out here, we could get in through the gate without being questioned.
We were about halfway to the gate when Carl said something. "You know," He chuckled, "You're the only person i've seen that can punch Daryl Dixon, and not get punched back."
"Oh yeah?" I questioned, laughing.
"Yeah" He replied, wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I leaned my head on his shoulder as we walked back to the place where Carl had already planned for us to die.Sorry this is so short. Writer's block can be a bitch. Anyway, I'm going to a music festival that is rather far from home, and I don't know exactly when I will be able to post again. I'm guessing 6 or 7 days at the most. Please vote for this chapter and comment! :)
