Castle woke up with a tiny foot in his ear. It was the third time this week that Tyler had come into their room in the middle of the night and fell asleep on their bed. Tyler always chose the weirdest possible ways to fall asleep.
Castle and Beckett had watched a "scary movie" on Monday and the boys wanted to join them. Beckett kept saying it wasn't a good idea but Castle insisted they would be fine. Castle was just now realizing what a horrible idea it was. Beckett was definitely right about this one... And all the other ones, too.
The movie that scared Tyler so much was Twitches and now he's paranoid that the darkness is coming after him. He'll have a lot of fun tonight with his paranoia because today is Halloween.
Castle and Beckett decided to make the boys matching, like every other parent with twins does.
Alex was going to be Spider Man and Tyler would be Hulk. The obvious theme being super heroes, Castle was going as Batman and Johanna , Princess Darth Vader.
Even though Darth Vader doesn't fit the theme quite right, the boys wanted some kind of villain and refused to be one themselves. Including Castle. But he had no problem volunteering his baby girl to be one.
~~~~~~~~~~~That night~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright guys, this is the last neighborhood. Choose the houses wisely" Castle said.
"But my pillow case isn't full yet!" Alex exclaimed.
"That's because you're carrying around a full body pillow case and emptying it out in the trunk every time we come back to the car." Castle stated matter of factly.
"I told you we should have gotten him a bucket," Beckett sighed
"Yep. You should have," Alex smirked.
"You are not eating all of that candy tonight," Castle said.
"Lets go to that house!" Tyler said opening the car door and running out.
Alex ran after him not wanting to argue with his dad. Ringing the doorbell, the four of them waited patiently for the owner of the house to open the door as Beckett waited in the car.
"Hello, children." The lady greeted as she opened the front door.
"Trick or treat," the four of them sang in unison and held out their bags.
The lady at the door handed them each a piece of paper that was titled 'How to Trick-or-Treat Safely', put a few prices of candy in each of their bags, and handed each of them an apple. "Now remember to eat a little healthy tonight and not just a bunch of junk food."
Alex instantly started inspecting the apple that was handed to him as if it had grown arms, pulled out a phone, and requested to follow him on Instagram. "Is this a candy apple?"
"No. It's a real apple," the lady replied.
"Do I look like Snow White to you? NO! I'M SPIDER MAN!" Alex yelled as he threw the apple at the nearest tree and it splattered into a ton of tiny pieces, throwing juice everywhere.
"Alex! That is no way to talk to someone! Apologize!" Castle demanded.
"I don't associate with people that hand out fruit on Halloween!" Alex yelled.
"Apologize!" Castle repeated. "Now!"
"Fine. I'm sorry." Alex mumbled as he turned around and walked to the car.
After Castle apologized to the lady, he followed Alex back to the car and got in the passenger seat. Turning around to face the children he said "That was the last house, thanks to Alex."
"What did he do?" Beckett asked.
Castle explained to Beckett about Alex's sass and apple throwing.
"You are not getting any candy when we get home!" Beckett shouted. "There is no way that is going unpunished."
"FINE! TAKE MY CHILDHOOD AWAY FROM ME WHY DONT YOU?" Alex screamed.
When the shouting had ended, Alex climbed into the trunk of the mini van and started eating as much candy as he could before they got home, knowing he wouldn't be able to have any of it once his parents got a hold of it back at the house.
After a few minutes, Beckett realized only two of her children were in the back seats. "Where's Alex at?" She asked.
Tyler opened a lolly pop and as he ate it, mumbled "I don't know" incoherently. Johanna just shrugged.
"He's in the trunk isn't he?" Castle suggested.
Both of the kids in the backseat looked at each other with worried looks.
"That's a yes." Beckett pulled over and opened the car door. She pressed the button that opens the trunk as she walked to the back of the car. Castle met her at the back of the car as the opening door revealed Alex lying on his back in the trunk on a pile of candy.
"I think I'm gonna throw up." He muttered as he stared at the ceiling of the car.
"I think you need a shock collar and a tracking device planted into your neck," Beckett picked Alex up, put him back in the car, and drove the rest of the way home, checking the rear view mirror every five seconds.
