It wasn't until 12:00a.m that the meeting/ball had ended. As the leaders danced for the first six hours, the other guests had been taken out to pledge their loyalty. When the guests came back, the leaders left for the next 6 hours for the meeting.Until a next winter season, I won't be able to attend the meetings.
I looked around my father's office, admiring the portraits of those that came before him. It wasn't until the door slammed shut that I was able to recover from my daze.
"Eliza," Father says firmly as he sits down at his desk. His red eyes pinned me down as he quickly combed back his black hair.
"Yes father?" I say unsteadily for there were fear in my voice.
"You danced with a werewolf," He begins. "And for that I am proud of you. It has been quite time since a werewolf has offered a hand to the royal family, so the relationship between the two species has been faint. But now, you have strengthened the bond by dancing gracefully at the ball with the werewolf prince, Jarrod."
"What?" I hissed as my fangs unsheathed. "I had been dancing with Jarrod? He is a fool! A troublemaker! A disgrace to his own family!" I kept blabbering out all my thoughts about Jarrod.
"Eliza!" Boomed father as he stood up. I cowered in my seat and waited for his response to my irrational actions. "You shall not ever talk about the royal families like that ever again! They deserve respect as much as we do, and I shall not ever allow otherwise!"
"I apologize father." I bow my head down, feeling defeated.
"Accepted." Father sighs. "You're too much like your mother. Never once did she care about the others. I had hoped more from you."
His words stung.
"May I be excused?" I whispered and he nodded his head as he massaged his temples. I quickly get up and walk out, making sure I close the door gently behind me.
Suddenly, a sweet scent drifted up my nose. Blood. I licked my lips as my fangs unsheathed. Blood only meant one thing to me, lunch time.
I found myself hurrying to the dining room, which was on the first floor, in front of the entry way. As I passed the row of archways, which lined the throne/dining room, the scent got stronger.
I wasn't surprised to see the table filled with greens and fresh meat. We traded the greens with the giants and the meat with the werewolves for vampires were inexperienced with hunting and harvesting.
Though the fresh meat wasn't quite where the sweet scent came from.
There were golden lined cups filled with drained human blood. My mouth watered at the meal. I hear footsteps entering the empty room and it was my mother. She held her head high as she elegantly sat down at the head of the table.
My father came from the other side of the room and he sat at the head of the table. I, as always, sat across from mom.
As usual, we were silent for we expected the guests to arrive.
The grand doors opened and I looked up from my plate just in time to see the faces of our guests, the royal werewolf family. I immediately spotted Jarrod as he walked in beside his twin brother, Stefan. I quickly looked away before they saw I was staring at their remarkable differences.
Stefan looked like a pure werewolf and Jarrod did not.
Besides their facial features, they could be from two different families.
"Your majesties." They bowed.
"Please take a seat." Father says gruffly as he straightens his bow tie. King Mac sits down at the other head of the table so he faced father. Jarrod and Stefan sit beside their father, but not without arguing who gets which seat. Unfortunately, Jarrod ended up sitting beside me.
The meal started once my father took the first bite. I eagerly drown myself in the thick liquid, before grabbing a pig's leg and sinking my teeth into it.
I teared into the meat, wanting every inch of sweetness I could get my teeth on. I felt like a vacuum, sucking the blood and getting some meat in my system here and there.
"Ahem!" Cleared mother's throat and I immediately refrain myself from what I was doing. Both auburn and red eyes were on me. I looked down and took notice of how messy my scarlet dress was.
Then, a chuckle escapes someone's lips. I instantly look beside me for it was the idiot, Jarrod. And then a growl escapes King Mac's lips. I glare at Jarrod before excusing myself from the table.
I held my head high as I exited the room and into the grand kitchen. I paced back and forth as thoughts swirled in my head. After I thought about what I had done, I exited the kitchen, but only to bump into someone.
"Uh, sorry." A familiar voice apologizes. I realized it Was Jarrod, the last person I wanted to see right now.
"What the hell?" I snap angrily, suddenly not caring about my reputation. He stumbles back in surprise, but quickly recovers.
"Princess Eliza, please forgive me." Jarrod says quite fast, before slipping past me. I whirled around, and hissed at him, baring my teeth. I had no idea what had gotten into me, maybe the wolf scent as clogged my brain as much as it has clogged my nose.
"Again, I apologize." He says as our eyes meet briefly before running into the kitchen.
What was that all about?
