Meeting The Humans

It was 3:00a.m and flurries were already coming down from the dark sky. I listened to the horses's hooves as they trotted down the stone roads. I watched as the carriage passed the stoned houses filled with my subjects. Something in particular caught my eye.

A blonde braided hair girl was sitting in the far distance. She looked like she was about a decade old. A smile forces upon my face as I see her lay in the grass upon the hill. Her red eyes were staring straight up and into the night sky. She seemed peaceful, but she had yet to realize how peaceful her world is compared to mine.

Father clears his voice and I immediately look away from the window to show respect.

"I think it is time for you to realize your place in this kingdom and snapping at our allies is not one of them. You may think you know everything, but you don't." He says sternly as he adjusts his jacket. My father was classic. He wears a very delicate and fancy suit, which was passed on for generations, and the pointiest of shoes. His hair is combed back, but there is always this little strand of hair that curls upon his forehead. I share his same features, or at least that is what I am told for I can't seem my own reflection.

Suddenly, the carriage jerked to a stop and the door opens. Father climbs out first and offers a hand to me. I take his hand as he leads me down the steps and onto a stone pathway. I scan my surroundings.

Trees were everywhere, covered in snow. They surrounded a big massive building made out of bricks. There were vines strung upon the outskirts of the building. There was also walls. Really, really tall walls. I stood there, taking in the very old features of the building that stood in front of me.

"This," Father begins. "Is the Human Enclosure."

My eyes widened at the building as deafening screams could be heard inside the building. I cowered at the shrills and shuddered at the thought of what was happening to them. My cold skin tingled at the thoughts.

"Come." Father commands and leads me to the building. Father strode confidently, the exact opposite of what I was doing. The noises blocked my thinking as I imagined what was going on in there. I bit my lip to keep myself from panicking. I kept my eyes averted to the ground as I tried to get myself together, but it only got worse once we went inside.

Inside, I was hit by a bright light and the scent of blood. Once my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the really massive room, which I assume is the whole first floor, I became horrified.

Cages.

There were rows of them and stacked up high too. They were all the same size and held female humans. They all looked up from what they were doing inside their cages and looked at me. I smelled fear.

"This is where we keep the woman."  Father informs me and walks down a row of cages. I reluctantly follow as the sweet scent increases. Father then climbs a flight of stares and the screams increase.

"The mating room." He says as I avert my eyes away from the cages in which had a female and male. We passed witches as father walked upstairs. They bowed as we walked by them. I guess witches work here, but I am not that surprised.

Witches and Wizards were kind of everywhere between the different lands of each species. Most were healers, though, but there are a few that served the royal families however the royals see fit.

The screams and blood increased extremely as we toured the building.

Floor 4- Baby Chambers

Floor 5- The Draining Headquarters

"You see Eliza, humans are very essential." Father begins as we exit the building in which had scarred me. "No humans equals chaos, which is why we breed them and when they either become too old or they can't reproduce any more, we drain their blood."

"Eliza, the fellow royals can use it against us." Father says in a hushed voice as he drops to my level. He plants his hands on my shoulders as his eyes widen. "When you take the throne, you must treat the others well and they will do the same. Remember that my dear."

"What happens if the humans do die out?" I say in a quivering voice, and as much as I wish my fear didn't show in my voice, I wished I could wipe the memory away of the cold treatment the humans were getting. It pained me to see them forced to mate, forced for birth, and forced to die.

I quickly shook those thoughts of pity away, I am a vampire and they are my prey. They are my life source, another worthless species that have been in control and feared for too long.

Father's icy voice cuts through my thoughts, "That is none of your concern my dear."
